Republic of Kal'estram

Monarchal rule once held Kalvesra together, but due to political missteps by the petty King Volandus, his heir was forced to sign the Decree of Divinity, asserting that all people had the right to be represented to their rulers.  This was the first step in the dismantling of the monarchy into what today is the Republic of Kal'estram.    The Republic owes its success to its growing middle class of artisans and guild members, while the wealthiest of these end up serving as Senators to the Republic.  This often leaves the poor, who lack guild protection, the fuel that is spent to grow the Republic.
