End of the Son Empire. Hanat razes the city, except for the Temple of Matarasse, and cuts down its soul-tree.

Hanat slays all of Son's Korasha. They banish the Damaya from the city's site and the Island of Aelau, and deem that, if they wish to have children, they must breed with Hanat's men. Yet a priest saves a sprig from the Soul-Tree and secretly plants it in a gully on Ta-Eizohu's eastern flank.
