The Age of the Warrior-Queens (Kamatha-Shamorea)

Lashunta historians divide their history into ~kamatha~: age/epoch. Of these, three - the Age of Birth, Age of the First Dawn, and Age of Legend - are prehistoric. This post deals with the first of the historical ages: ~Kamatha Shamorea~ - the Age of the Warrior-Queens.   This historical period covers roughly 7,000 Castrovellian years (3,500 Earth/Golarion years), from the founding of Son to the Pact of Peace by the queens of the Yaro Valley city-states. Some scholars divide into the Early Warrior-Queens, from Son’s foundation to the defeat of the Moqeva, the Middle Warrior-Queens, starting from the declaration of the Empire of Son to the loss of that city’s empire, and the Latter Warrior-Queens, covering the Empire of Old Hanat. This age is thus analogous to the rise, hegemony, and abrupt fall of Azlant on Golarion (with whom these early Lashunta had contact), though Lashunta civilization outlived and evolved less traumatically while Golarion underwent its Age of Darkness.   It also documents one of most fiercely warlike periods in Lashunta history. When the ancient Azlanti wrote of Castrovel being inhabited by the fiercest warriors in the worlds, they were describing the Warrior-Queens and their followers. Lashunta society of this time was strongly based on martial virtue and military conquest. Queens were expected to expand their dominions or found claims on new territory. An unlucky or pacifist queen would be quickly replaced by a proven war-leader, and here lies the crux of not only the Lashunta’s greatest achievements in this age, but also their worst atrocities.
