Telling Time in Lashunta

Castrovel has a day-cycle roughly equal in length to Golarion and Earth’s. Where accurate time-keeping is needed - mainly only in the cities, the Lashunta divide it into eighteen ‘dautha’ (belltides; hours), roughly 80 minutes long.
  • Araemni - Midnight
  • Zharaemni - After-midnight
  • Millavya - Darkwatch
  • Zhamillavya - After-darkwatch
  • Aeuvaeatha - Foredawn. Also called Mirryri - Lastwatch
  • Uvaeatha - Dawntide. Also called Dae-Viri - First Bell
  • Zhauvaeatha - After-dawntide. Also called Dae-Soari - Nextbell
  • Uvaremnatha - Mid-morntide. Also called Dae-Zairi - Third Bell
  • Aerenyatha - Forenoon. Also called Dae-Hairi - Fourth Bell
  • Remnyatha - Midday; noon. Also called Daeandremni - Midday Bell
  • Zarenyatha - Afternoon. Also called Dae-Taliri - Sixth Bell
  • Uzautha - Slumbertide; siesta (It’s a tropical world. Nobody’s doing much when the temp is over 100F and 80-90% humidity). Also called Dae-Ealiri - Seventh Bell
  • Zauzautha - After-slumbertide. Also called Dae-Esiri - Eighth Bell
  • Aenyatha - Fore-eve. Also called Dae-Iliri - Ninth Bell
  • Nyathi - Eve-tide. Also called Dae-Simiri - Tenth Bell
  • Shimnyatha - Duskmeal-tide. Also called Dae-Siemiri - Eleventh Bell
  • Mila-Vira - Firstwatch. Also called Dae-Ryri - Last Bell
  • Aearaemni - Fore-midnight. Also called Milzoari - Second Watch
For intra-hour time-keeping, most people don’t bother with anything smaller than a Daemolaeri - Quarter-Bell, ~27 minutes, which is accurate enough to keep track of appointments.   For timekeeping using a timepeace (either a water-clock or a very non-portable gear & counterweight clock), some Lashunta sages divide a belltide into180 kalino (second; literally, ‘small chunk of time’), about 27 seconds.    Some sages even further subdivide the kalino into eighteen seiathyo (second; breathtide; moment), about 1.5 seconds, for even more accurate timekeeping.
