Lady Vaeol
Vaeol-Riyaeil Yaranevae be’Son (Lady-Flagwife Vaeol Yaranevae of Son), a female Damaya, is our narrator, since she’s an avid daylog-keeper and loves writing! The youngest daughter of the High Matron of Son, she is both a sworn outrider and a trained soulseer (psychic) and holds the rank of flagwife. However, she has a rebellious streak, despite an innate shyness, which has gotten her unofficial exile and loss of favor back home in Son, coupled with a reputation as a bold flag-leader and duellist, and a habit of making friends.
She has sworn matehood with both Remaue her shieldbearer and Kaure. She also has a son Aeosel, just three years old (a year and a half) with Oshis, her flag’s firstspear, which makes her childsisters with…well…more other mothers than she can easily count, but includes, Erymi and Sievae within their flag.
Recently, Lady Vaeol created a scandal in the city of Qabarat. After winning the Motorae Games swordbill championship, she challenged the Korasha axe champion to a exhibition match, which cross-clade competition is frowned upon, betting her crown against his. Then she also sponsored her flagmates Kaure and Oshis - both Korasha who break convention by riding Shotalashu - to hold the yard in a challenge against Qabarat's outriders. Lady Vaeol, as a soulseer, has a longstanding interest in gatelor, including the aiudara-elfgates and the older more uncertain world portals of unknown creation. As a young reeve on her first command, she rescued a party of humans lost in Castrovel's jungle after coming through a worldgate, and helped them return home.
