Kërpudha Species in Castores | World Anvil

Kërpudha

The Kërpudha are a docile race of mushroom people. Alien and reclusive, the Kërpudha rarely interact with other races, effectively working as natural janitors, collecting waste to feed their circles. Their serene and easy going nature leads to even the most aggressive predators largely leaving them alone.   Members of the race form up into circles, which are a sort of hivemind. Individuality is a strange and alien concept to them. These circles find remote caverns to make their homes. These circles find outsiders to be a curiosity. If forced to defend themselves, the Kërpudha rely on deadly spores, and the ability to raise fallen enemies as zombies.   It is unclear what deity created the Kërpudha. Worship is rare among them, and their rare documentation in both history and mythology leads it open to much speculation.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The mushroom people are most commonly encountered deep within Castores' mountain ranges, far from civilization.   During the spring however, they seem to sprout up among the fungal swamps, before drying up during the summer, only to return in the autumn, before being lost to winter. These Kërpudha seem to be tied to the mushroom growths of oceans, and its unclear if they are related to those living underground.
