Wither Lizard

The Wither lizard is a strange reptilian creature composed mostly of water. Like some strange cross between a crocodile and a jellyfish, this great lizard floats and sways with the tide. Boneless and rubber skinned, the wither lizard in another world might looks like a strange inflatable or costume party piece floating down a river. The sedentary beast relies on its harmless appearence to survive. Luring in creatures that stray just too close, and then, sudenly the limbs of the wither lizard spring into action and draw in it's prey. Slowly its dinner is ensnared and the limbs fold inward to engulf its prey. As the poor fish or bird struggles to escape, is opens up the fleshy membrane of the wither lizard and unknowingly burrows a tunnel into the belly of the beast about to eat it. Inside the wither lizard, the meal is sedated and slowly dissolved

Basic Information

Anatomy

The creature looks like a hunking log of silicone, or a knot of plastic bags. Fundamentally the creature is amorphus, but it is often seen in a log of alligator like shape. it has no bones or muscles, just a big permealbe skin filled with a weak sedative and mild acid.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Being mostly water, the creature lends itself to being dried out. As it dries it shrinks to a size of approximately one twelfth of what it once was, and its contents become ever more concentrated. When dried, the creature is eaten by eelmen, or used by orcs as a medicinal aromatic

Jellyfish? Slime? Crocodile?
Conservation Status
The species is very likely to at some point become extinct due to the number that must be slain to keep up with market demand for orcish medicine. However, even after having been dried a good supply of freshwater can be used to revive the creatures.
