The Myth of The Urizahli.
Summary
The Urizahli had an advanced mageocracy. They were able to pull of things that is impossible today. They were so sure of themselves, so arrogant that they actively defied the Gods, and tried to steal their power by constructing a device that could siphon the gods powers. The Urizahli wanted to defeat the gods. One of the gods became so enraged that it cursed the Urizahli. Most of them died, the remaining survivors were cursed with an ability to turn into were-hyenas at will.
Historical Basis
The only thing that is known as fact is that the Urizahli did exist, and their ruins dot the landscape in The Red Badlands.

Obscure. Not known by the public. Only the tribes in The Red Badlands and scholars around the world know the myth.
Variations & Mutation
In one variant, the curse creates the Gnolls.
Cultural Reception
The Zhargarim take the myth as fact. They venerate those with the Curse.
