Exeluss Watch
Exeluss watch is named that because Uali wanted people to know that it would take in the exiled and watch over them.
This small town may seem easy to invade but is really a near-impenetrable fortress; it is built like a stronghold from the ground up. With its small military, it still manages to fend off larger attackers; well-armed is an understatement. Military service is required, yet the people there love this policy. It was practically built out of the forge of war; this shows in how their society is built. It starts at the watchtower. The top part of it has electricity sparking around it, and then the crossbows use iron rods instead of normal bolts so that they conduct electricity. Each tower has two guards with these crossbows, both heavily armed, as they don't need as much mobility as other units. Then when it gets closer to the city gates, there is a large square of electric wire hidden in the tall grass leading around the city border, allowing a much more broad attack at the expense of destroying its cover. Then the foot soldiers are always stationed inside the city; the gates use phalanx-based spears to pike enemies coming through the front gate. Then they use the spears to get them onto the top of a wall above the gate; they dislodge the dead soldiers to help create a wall. The shield-bearers make sure that they are not attacked during this process before it is repeated; within the walls is where the artillery lies. With removable wooden gates that flip open with hinges to allow the artillery to shoot their many volleys, they must use ballista-like weapons for this as catapults cannot be hidden as well with this system. They modify the ballistas to fire twin bolts, and they teach how to fire these at the best angle to take out the most soldiers in one volley. Then the cavalry seals the enemies grave, made up of the hidden divisions of their militia. They hide in the area around and use geographical advantages to attack and isolate the enemy from behind; usually this is the most experienced soldiers of the time. This group of the army seals the grave of their enemies, but they are the hardest to manage. They always have to develop new tactics so the enemies can't anticipate them, sometimes they have to fake choosing one new tactic over the other, it is incredibly hard and it is why Exeluss Watch is always searching for the best tacticians. This all in all creates a stronghold of a city, with the tower standing above it all. Where the wizards sit, casting fireballs during war and sitting around the roundtable.
Demographics
Most members are quite young, they are from commonly poor communites or place with bad living conditions. They go to live here because they can put their skills to use, and the city now has a way to keep people around by giving them conditions that are better than their home country which will overall better the community in most cases, they also like to take in refugees. Certain species that are banished in most other places can usually take rest here, for they need to grow their population and the city was build by refugees and the banished, it would be evil to not take them in. In terms of wealth classes there is only a large physical division between the two classes, but a small monetarial one. Being the upper and middle class with the lower class being few and usually are taken in after by the generous citizens or are helped by the goverment.
Government
it is ran by the most powerful, repuatation is your currency and people are what keeps you alive. They use monetary trade but it allows you to get by, but getting awards and being selfless are what really allow you to live in this city. They get you closer to the central tower. The goal of most young dreamers
Defences
The moat made up of defecation instead of water surrounds the city walls, with a raised bridge to cross over it that has spikes on the end. The small ledge that peeks out from the foundation of the city is covered in wooden spikes, and then under the bridge is a "sewer," which is actually a secret tunnel only supposed to be intended for soldiers. In the second ring there is a large moat between the first. But it is more like a pit, empty of all liquid but instead filled with spaced-out iron spikes so that they will always catch at least one limb. The bridges between the two rings look like they are vertically adjacent to each other, but it is an illusion to disorient the intruders; the final ring needs a special floating machine to get to it. It sits alone with the ring of tower around the great tower. But no bridge sits between the pit, just empty space. Those who fall in are resurrected by the city's necromancers as soldiers for the army but kept in terracotta coffins so that they stay dormant until the leader deems they are needed.
Industry & Trade
It gets a large amount of funding from its agriculture business and makes a lot of compost, but doesn't get much funding as it is built so that it can last if it is cut off from the rest of the world so neither of these are primary focuses of the country, just what they found worked for them.
Infrastructure
for the outer ring instead of using indoor plumbing they utilize the defication and urination to enhance their defenses, this makes up their most. Made extra dangerous by the defecation, then the inner cities use indoor plumbing for compost and ferilizer to become more self sufficent. They use a lot of these invention, finding alternatives to coal that allow them to be self sufficent by burning organic matter instead. The final pit inbetween the second and third rings is full of a deep pit of water without of escape, when tensions are down they allow Charon to ride his intended passengers and living who pay a tall fee to hitchhike on.
Districts
The only district that is open to the wander that has been background checked is the farthest out of the three major districts, the Ex district it is called. Then coming down to the smaller districts you usually don't get to be in direct contact with the walls if you are just wandering, if you agree to become a permanent citizen then you can travel to these areas. Then to get to the next district you must have been or currently signed up for their military or done some great service to the people in the other district where you choose between the Watch district in the middle or the Lunsa district that lies closest to the center of the city, to get in there you have to have the best grades and be accepted into one of the schools their and part of your college tuition will go to moving you/moving your family into Lunsa. Otherwise you must do something extraordinary similar to Watch.
Assets
Many stockpiled iron bolts, which would be solded in the event of a finacial emergency. Many artefacts useful for the machinations of war. Then some of the best blacksmiths live in the town square of this city, and others who have a love for sowing.
History
Built in a mixed biome, in between a desert and forest. Intertwined with the caves of the forest and desert, they have been through more wars than any country their size, it has been built from the outside to the inside. Suprising due to their country having been around for many empires. Renown in even foreign continents for how refined and effective their defense, yet some bold empire will still try to take it over. The bold empire meets the same fate as all those before it that the leader has not learned from.
Points of interest
The main interests for this settlement are the best of the blacksmiths that work in this stronghold of a city, then to take lectures from the engineers that live here to optimize the self-sufficiency of this settlement. But other than that it just provides a safe place for the refugees to rest.
Tourism
They keep their wall closed, for they don't want to risk spies getting into the town; the few that are let in are rather renowned tacticians or great champions. Usually trying to get their appraisal in hopes that they will join them, the advantage of this is that many of those that enter there are rich and powerful. Not many travel here, but those that do are well off, so they have subpar revenue in terms of tourism. Surprising due to the fact that it is not a primary focus of the settlement in any regard.
Architecture
Their homes are made out of stone. Due to nearly every part of the city being armed against invasion, citizens are armed with weapons, as they will also help with defending the city. The buildings are built with sharp edges and are made like shelters, with the entrance usually being a tunnel. The tunnel system was also used in accordance with a bomb system to blow up invaders traveling on a path that is straight to the city; after many tragedies, this system was retired. The city is then separated into five different sectors, each getting more and more defended as time passes on.
Geography
It has many caves that the hidden divisions of their military like to use, similar with the trees in the forest. Then with multiple moats and pits within or near the city. The engineers and thinkers that live here have managed to analyze every aspect of these caves and trees to find every way they could be used, and yet still new people manage to find new ways that sometimes work and sometimes ones that don't.
Who was the founder of Exeluss Watch
Uali was young when he had his dream of creating this settlement, he hated how his peoples towns were invaded and they were constantly on the run. He made a vow to himself on one of these days. He would create a fortress that nobody could destroy, so that nobody could chase him out of his home ever again. He hoped that he could build it as a "gift" to other refugees, a place they could call home without having to worry about it changing, he made some rudimentary paper to plan it out. It was one of the things he took with him every time they had to leave their home, and even then it stayed in his mind. Every waking moment was filled with thoughts of it. This was a dream that was his, and he was determined to fufill it, but he couldn't do it on his own. He needed a benefactor, thats when he found him...
