The Old Quarter Settlement in Carver City | World Anvil

The Old Quarter

I've been in the city for a while and let me tell you, the Old Quarter is by far my favorite part. The cobbled streets, the little cafes, the history of it all! You can't get that feeling anywhere else in Carver City, the sense that the city has roots. With all the artifacts and museums in the Old Quarter, you could say nothing really disappears here.
- Arnold Davis, Curator of the Carver City Museum of History
Every city starts somewhere; for Carver City that somewhere is the Old Quarter. Elegant townhouses line cobbled streets as students from the nearby university study in cafes. The air is quiet, and there is almost a sense of calm. However, don't let that fool you. The Old Quarter is full of artifacts, interesting tales, and history, only some of which is mundane. For Mythoi, the Mist feels thinner here than in most places. Either people pay more attention in the Old Quarter, or the place has managed to wear the Mist thin. Either way, staying here too long might just be the easiest way to look for trouble.

Points of Interest

The Carver City Museum of History

This museum is Carver City's largest collection of both ancient and modern works. Art, artifacts, and various relics of the past are kept here for viewing behind one of the most advanced security systems ever created. Since many items have had such a storied history in the city, they themselves have become Rifts, often taking on power of some sort. As such, the museum doubles as one of the largest vaults of known magical items - hence its tight security.

Andrew Carver University

Carver University was established hundreds of years ago and used to be one of the most well-renowned schools in the country. However, shrinking budgets, faculty scandals, and competition from nearby private institutions have eroded its prestige. Regardless, its labs and classes still produce top tier students who go on to be some of Carver City's most preeminent residents.
