The stormy Fladdock seaport of Meere is famous for its shipyards, and for the magical artificers of Fris. Merchants and tradesmen from around the world journey to Meere to acquire the unique and priceless artifacts of the Fire Hand.
Across the Flatwater, in the frigid Aspian, lie the mysterious volcanic islands of the Fire Island Fris, home to the reclusive wizard-monks of the Fire Hand. These men and women are craftsmen of the highest caliber: timesmiths, armorers, and conjurers of otherworldly cunning. No outsider may set foot on Fris, so the Hand does its business in the port city of Meere.
Meere is also known for its impressive shipworks, a half-dozen independent factories crafting the finest sailing vessels in the world. From lightweight skiffs to heavy armed frigates, every type of ship can be bought and sold in Meere. The Verulin people do not crave power, and have no designs on the Throne, content in the satisfaction of self-reliance and craftsmanship. But the city has many latent assets, primary among them being a vast, unassembled fleet of warships, The Silent Armada. Many power-hungry souls in Carrisor would love to turn the resources of Meere to their own ends.
Fladdock also makes the world’s most terrible wine, beloved by only a handful of die-hard locals.
