LeBâton City

LaForêt is the subtropical forest region that divides Higale from Lowgal, and is a de facto kingdom of its own. Lowgal, to the south, is a swampy and inhospitable place, yet the bellicose families of LaForêt, DeReche, Bûcheron, and Singe struggle to separate themselves from Higale in a campaign that has been smoldering for more than a hundred years.
At the mouth of the Machi River on the banks of the Siouet stands LaForêt’s richest trading port, the capital city of LeBâton, overseen by the young Baron Gustar DeReche. The Lowgal climate is uniquely suited for coffee, tobacco, lentils, and many other crops valued around the world. Under constant siege from all directions, the warriors of the midlands are a fierce fighting force, determined to liberate their homeland from the dominion of the Lion’s Keep.
Coniff Tower at the center of LeBâton City is the home of the powerful LaForêt family, including their patriarch Lowan LaForêt. Sporting wizardly white locks and long white beard, Lowan spends his evenings plotting the demise of the Lionnars. He has allied with Cäcilia Miter and her Storm’s Eye, promising her the Burning Tower in exchange for help in destroying the North, and he negotiates with Princess Chelsée Lionnar to betray her father and let LaForêt take Higale without a fight.
Lowan LaForêt believes that only by unifying Higale under his banner can he save his world from the servants of the Flame.
