Torva's Attempted Resurrection by Taurok

The Adventurers of Forgebrand, in an attempt to bring back their murdered teammate Torva'shi, contacted a priest of Zaraah by the name of Taurok.
Taurok, himself a hulking mountain of muscle and magic, agreed to cast the necessary spell from a scroll in his possession in return for something simple: a chance to learn from the band who so swiftly disposed of an undead threat near Goldleaf Hollow.

Your eyes drift shut as the powerful magic washes over you: not its master, but a humble guide. You feel the White One’s power reach out through you into what lays beyond. There is a sense of grabbing hold, of pulling.
Then you see a vision.
A book the color of blood turns gray. Its pages crumple to dust as it snaps shut.
You feel a need, no, a hunger to find… something, you don’t know what.
Chains of void appear from nowhere and bind the book.
With a snap you feel your connection to the soul beyond being severed. As the spell fades, you understand on a deep, instinctual level that this soul is not free to return. The balance cannot be tipped toward life.
