Drakhol Commonwealth (DRA-kul CAW-muhn-wealth)

In the Age of Annihilation, humans took over and brutally wiped out the Dragonborn inhabitants of Dra Khol, establishing their own kingdom on the land.  Now the Drakhol Commonwealth sits as a hostile, but rarely heard from, power in the eastern sea.

Structure

The Matron oversees the entire island, with her daughters heading up specific areas of control over the commonwealth.  The leading family (DiCamillo) has almost complete autonomy, with the specific household held in high regard.  Other human ships are treated well, but still are subservient to the ruling class.

Culture

Every stereotype about the warring and brash humans in Canton are true here in the commonwealth.  Walls run the length of the northern cliffs, to protect against raids from Khilland that have never come, and patrols sail the perimeter of the island 24/5.

Public Agenda

Since taking the island of Dra Khol, the human commonwealth has procaimed no agenda, other than to exist untouched by the outside world.  This may include military action outside of Dra Khol, such as the destruction of The Beacon of Irrast in 52 Aa, but never to conquer or destroy other races.

Assets

The human fleet is vast, and their ships are some of the few that can navigate the deep waters outside of the nine isles.  Walls run most of the cliff perimeters, constantly staffed by guards.

History

The island of Dra Khol was largely undeveloped when humanity arrived in 1 Aa, the dragonborn living largely peaceful and uninteresting lives.  Quickly the humans launched an invasion of the island and wiped out the entire population living there, and by 3 Aa the Commonwealth was formed.  Quickly fortifications were raised against the Country of Irrast, and ever since the isle has been a refuge of humanity against the outside world.

Demography and Population

The entire population is human, with the majority being of the DiCamillo and Omar ethnicities.  No non-humans are allowed on the isle, and trespassers are quickly and brutally dealt with - usually through immediate execution.

Territories

The commonwealth continues to occupy the ancestral home of the Dragonborn, Dra Khol.  They have encompassed the entire isle under one rule, but do not hold territory anywhere else in Canton.

Military

The Drakhol Commonwealth supports a vast and terrifying military, with a well-equipped navy and hordes of ground forces to boot.  This size is due to a requirement of every family to promise every first child to the military protection of their country.  Since the end of the Irrast-Human war, these forces have been used solely in protection of the island.

Religion

Humans follow saintism, but only recognize human saints.  Above all else they worship St. Albert, the last navigator of the seven ships and savior of the MacGregor ship.  He has been nowhere to be seen since they landed, however.

Foreign Relations

The commonwealth is completely self-dependent, and has no outside contact with other powers.  Rumors abound of the human foundries equipping the war armies of the Tonyth Empire, but no concrete proof is yet to be found.

Agriculture & Industry

Human foundries dot the landscape, in a constant state of making weapons and armor for the ever-expanding human military.  These human weapons are valued for their uniformity - almost to the point of being completely identical.  While not as effective as Dweller weapons, nor as magical as ancient Elvish weapons, these boast reliability and ease of use.  Unfortunately they are nearly impossible to acquire, as deserters from the commonwealth rarely are able to take more than a couple with them.

Education

Most children in the commonwealth are taught in tight family-clusters, by only trusted individuals.  Once they become young adults, first-born are sent to a military college while others are sent to apprenticeships or mage's academy.
