Billie's Brawl - Beater's Point

General Summary

Note: This is actually notes from two sessions as the battle session had limited developments.    Landing in Beater's Point for some boat repairs and to staff up their crew, the Wardens had just managed to all reconvene at the local Billie's Tavern . As Myra sat down with drinks a man with a prominent red scarf turned around and asked 'Lady Stagwood', directed at Sarya, to come with them. Not being able to hold in a laugh at the fact that they clearly didn't have a description of her, Myra was quickly identified as the real Lady Stagwood and asked to come peaceably as many of the patrons of the bar revealed a red scarf.

The Easy Way

As the Warden's take in the new numbers they glance to where they last saw their weapons, noticing that the bouncer and once bartender have disappeared. Meanwhile, the man who has only introduced himself as "Mr. Nice Guy" has continued to talk at Myra about coming with them and not wanting her to be 'hurt'. Myra, taking in the odds of the lingering effects of Vlypem on Raijun and Adama, the unknown of the jellyfish, and the removal of weapons, in addition to the three of four scarves to each Warden agrees to go with them peaceably in exchange for her friends safety. Mr. Nice Guy 'agrees' and Myra starts to come around, despite the other Warden's mental protests and Yamil attempting to dissuade her. As she rounds the table Myra 'trips' asking Hagren to take the bag of holding and handle it for her until she can make it back. Hagren, with ease, takes the bag off of her as she stumbles into the group of Red Scarves  As they prepare to leave, with some of the Warden's seething, Mr. Nice Guy pulls out a pair of shackles with runes that inhibit magic. Yamil registers the panic in Myra's eyes, as it would make later escape significantly more challenging, and instead 'suggests' that those could be put on at a later time. Mr. Nice Guy's eyes glaze slightly as he agrees that those can wait until the boat as Myra was coming willingly asking if that suited Myra. Myra swallows and nods as she's surrounded by the scarves and walked out the door.    As they exit the establishment Myra overhears Mr. Nice Guy telling one of the others to rendezvous at the clock tower later. Myra mind links this to Adama, the only Warden near enough at the time. As they close the door Myra hears them give one last command to kill the Warden's which she informs Mr. Nice Guy was a very poor decision as Adama sets off a fireball.

The Hard Way

The fight quick separates into the group inside the bar (Hagren, Yamil, Sarya, and Raijun) and Adama and Myra outside (after Adama blows the door open from the inside). With the majority of the men inside Sarya turns into a giant scorpion and 'hugs' some of the scarves so tightly that they split in two. Hagren shows off his bar brawl skills picking up tankards and chairs and crippling a few scarves with them, while Yamil summons his lance and handily deals with a few himself. Raijun quickly takes out a few of the scarves by the door before bursting outside to help Myra and Adama.    Meanwhile, Adama having blown open the bar with a fireball is being hounded by magical Jellyfish who are tracking magic. He leads them outside into the group that was previously holding Myra. Myra, who warned the scarves not to hurt her friends, having tried to avoid this whole situation, has mitigated her lack of armor and weapons by using the Transmutation scroll to turn herself into a large white dragon. The use of the higher power magic means that the magic seeking jellyfish are split between Myra and Adama as they handily dispatch the six scarves formerly surrounding Myra.    Mr. Nice Guy has whistled for reinforcements, some of whom were hesitant about attacking a dragon but a well placed arrow to Myra caused her to drop form leaving her back in her unarmored state. This also made it possible for the Jellyfish to home in and target her back where the scroll currently resides hitting it directly. When attached directly it caused transmutation magic to surge out of Myra uncontrolled turning many of the bystanders, and a newly emerged Raijun into Stags reminiscent of the one on Myra's family crest. Between the wild magic and Adama's terrifying visage destroying his men Mr. Nice Guy turned tail and ran down one of the streets.    Bloody and beaten Myra started to give chase propositioning one of the former scarves turned stag to help her follow in exchange for payment. As she mounted the deer to peruse her would be captor a group of guards came down the street to help with the commotion. Yelling at Myra to get off the stag, she paused only momentarily to consider before complying and being cuffed and arrested by the guards. Adama attempting to back up Myra's story, forgot he was wearing a red scarf from earlier and was also directed to stand down for arrest. Adama, not feeling like complying with the request instead cast fly on himself and took off over the roof tops towards the clocktower Myra had mentioned earlier.    Hagren and Yamil, who had come out of the bar only after everyone had been turned to stags and the entire battlefield was chaos, turned tail and went back inside to finish their drinks. Yamil comments that he "quiet misses adventuring. It is quite fun." Sarya, having used the chaos to change into the form of bird, perched on Myra's shoulder until she was arrested at which point she attempted to follow the scarves further into the city tracking them toward the clocktower. Raijun, stuck in the form of a stag is wrangled by a kind hearted guard who herds him along with the other stags off in another direction.

Aftermath

As Hagren and Yamil go back inside they see a shark man who had been sleeping at the bar during the fight slip off and fall to the floor. Pulling himself together he looks at the carnage and approaches another patron, "Hey there mate, did I miss something?" Hagren, after taking a minute to finish his beer wonders where their weapons might have gone off to but only finds scratch marks leading outside of the bar with no sign of the goliath bouncer.

Raijun

The kind guard continues to coo to Raijun as he leads him and the other stags through the Foundry and into Cliff Break Village where he leads them into a stable and stables all the stags. Raijun tries to inspire the other former people into rebelling and breaking out but then fails to open the gate holding him with strength. Meanwhile in one of the other pens two of the stags get into a fight causing one of them to revert back to human form.    With renewed vigor Raijun escapes his pen and makes it into the pen where the two stags were previously fighting goading one of the stags nd the now human into hitting him. Eventually, they hit him enough that his form reverts and he is able to pass with out a trace out of the stable headed toward Pryd's Lookout where he assumes the guards would have taken Myra, ready to break her out if necessary.

Adama & Sarya

As Adama flies away from the guards he dodges arrows and spears thrown from below attempting to hit him. Attempting to sneak fails at first so Adama ducks into an alley way where he disguises himself as Old Adama as the guards rush past. Having made good time flying Adama approaches the clocktower casing it and recognizing a familiar eagle, Sarya. Sarya informs him that she saw at least three go into the clocktower before she lost visual. Adama suggests taking a short rest while waiting for their friends, Adama commenting that Myra would probably think to look here for them as she had mentioned the clock tower to him. The two find a nearby run down shack to hide out in waiting for the others.

Myra

As the iron of the guard's manacles close on her wrists, Myra feels her remaining magic and will to fight leave her. Having been badly wounded in the attempted kidnapping she is more dragged than walks to Pryd's lookout. There she's put in a cell and told "someone will be with you soon."   From a cell across from her a voice pipes up "You look like shit." Myra laughs painfully coughing up a little blood, "You should see the other guys."   "What do they look like."    "Well I think three of them are dead and at least one isn't walking again. How about you? What did you do to end up here."    "I'm a stow away, seeking travel away from those who've done me wrong."   "I understand that sentiment. Where are you from?"   "I come from farther west."   "And they threw you in here for stowing away? That seems like it should be a fine."   "I punched someone once they found me."   "Ah that would do it." Myra comments as a woman in white is let into her cell.   The priestess of Lathander winces looking over Myra's wounds. "I don't suggest you engage in such activities," she suggests helpfully as she helps stitch up the wounds and bandage them. "May the light be with," she intones before leaving.    As Myra waits she mentions to the other person that she'll ask about if there's a fine for them and mentions if they are looking for a way out of Beater's she knows someone who's looking to hire a crew. She says if she can get out of here feel free to come by Billies' Tavern tomorrow morning and ask for Hagren noting that no one should be stuck in a place they don't wish to be in. A few minutes pass before a guard approaches Myra's cell again leading her out in the hallway. In the stairs they pass a large statue giving Myra flashbacks of the holding cells in Nightwell. Myra glances the name on the placard as Pryd, who the base is named for, and a dedication saying that he defended beaters point granting a strategic naval victory.    Being taken upstairs Myra is led to an office with Corporal Ryan Handish inside. He's perplexed not able to place Myra immediately as she reminds him of their last encounter. Myra, truthfully, explains that she was not the instigator of the fight as she was the victim of attempted kidnapping. Corporal Handish seems skeptical and says that they have an investigator o the scene and he will wait for his report. While they wait Handish asks about status of the Beholden Crossing  and Myra informs him that it has been cleared and that she would expect the Lion's crest troops to return after they conclude diplomatic initiatives. Myra doesn't mention the Warden's involvement in clearing the conflict instead preferring to stay in the passive voice.

Hagren & Yamil

Meanwhile, having remained at the bar Hagern and Yamil discuss the shark-folk man and the attempted kidnapping. Yamil asks if Hagren has any idea who would want to try to kidnap Myra and Hagren says his best guess is that it's tied to her title. Yamil questions if Hagren knows about the elk, and Hagren obfuscates saying he doesn't know the particulars. Yamil comments that he didn't realize that we were that powerful  noting that it' snot very common to see power like that and remarking that having been on the receiving end of power like that we should be careful.   As they discuss the shark-folk man, later introduced as Meko Tidefin, begins going over the bodies saying a prayer both to honor the dead and perhaps to prevent himself from indulging on the bodies. Yamil comments to Hagren that he doesn't think he's ever seen a shark folk, as the shark priest says his prayers.    A moment later a group of guards enters the establishment cautiously. Once determining that the threat has past one shouts out the door, "JP it's clear." The guards stand to attention flanking the door as a duck aarakocra enters the establishment. JP surveys the scene making notes to himself as he surveys the bodies of the scarves "Perhaps a bar room brawl gone wrong." After a moment of taking notes the investigator approaches Hagren and Yamil, "Good evening gentlemen, did you happen to witness the events here?"   Hagren and Yamil confirm that they were here even admitting to taking part after the scarf gang tried to abduct their friend. As JP turns to Meko to ask if he saw anything Yamil leans over to Hagren. "I do not understand this part of the world, I did not know I would be talking to a duck." As Meko confirms Hagren's story JP returns to Hagren and Yamil. Prompting Hagren to ask for his name and position.   The investigator apologizes and introduces himself as JP Mallard , the high investigator for the crown. JP asks where Hagren and Yamil were coming from prompting Hagren to share more news on the Beholden Crossing. After giving JP some information Hagren mentions that he thinks Myra was taken into Pryd's Lookout. Mallard says that "Justice & Truth" will set her free if she is innocent. Hagern asks about speaking on her behalf as a group of guards carry in a large familiar chest that they found under the stairs.    Hagren immediately goes to reclaim his weapons but JP stalls saying that they will get them back after he's given his report to Corporal Ryan Handish. He invites Hagren and Yamil to come with him to Pryd's Lookout where, once everything is settles, they should be able to return with their weapons and Myra.

Reunited

Following Mallard toward the lookout, it's not long before Hagren and Yamil stumble into Raijun. Mallard asks if Raijun was also part of the brawl which he initially denies before Mallard gives him a look that says 'I can see right through you.' Prompting Raijun to more truthfully spill where he was with a few key obfuscations (no one mentions the scroll was what prompted the stags).    Arriving at Hamish's office JP gives a report to Hamish as Hamish reiterates what Myra told him. With the stories in line Hamish decides to release Myra from the manacles, allowing her magic to flow again. Myra immediately cleans herself off to make herself more presentable before sitting back down in the chair. Handish says that he hope's further conflict isn't necessary at which point Myra gives him a piece of her mind around how necessary it was to not be kidnapped also throwing around her last name. She also mentions that the scarves were looking to bring her to a clocktower looking for any kind of reaction from Handish. Handish, inclined to not get involved, makes no motion to send guards or help to investigate.    Frustrated, before Myra leaves the office she asks Handish about the woman in the cell opposite of her and if there's a fine to have them released. Handish looks confused, saying last he checked they only had an old man in the cells who was attempting to head east. Myra sighs and chocks it up to another thing that he's clearly not paying attention to and leads the group outside taking their weapons with them.   On the way to the clocktower, Myra feeling uneasy about remaining herself, stops at a store and buys some large clothes altering herself with use of the transmutation scroll into the frame of a half-orc woman. The group then stops by Otman's Lot to see if the bow breakers had any additional information. The interaction goes poorer than the first with Myra still being in a bad state after the attempted kidnapping. Hagren attempts to lie to say she's his sister but isn't very convincing causing Otman to question the good nature of their previous relationship. Hagren apologies and tells the truth that Myra was almost abducted by the scarves. Otman says the scarves have been mucking things up for too long saying he will ask around. The group thanks him and takes their leave heading toward the clocktower.    As the group approaches the clocktower they see a familiar old man waiting outside who informs them that Sarya has already gone up as a spider to scout ahead. Sarya reports that the tower is crawling with quite a few scarves and a number of traps that are supposed to be sprung as the group enters from below. As she scouts ahead she hears Mr. Nice guy complaining at the top of the tower that it was "supposed to be a grab and go" and that they must have been betrayed. As Sarya relays the situation Myra wanders off into a back alley where some boxes and lumber sat. Ten minutes later, as Sayra has just completed scoping out the bottom floor, Myra returns with a very large ladder she has fabricated in the alley.    Leaning the ladder up against the building Hagren and Raijun take the lead going up with the group following and Myra bringing up the rear. About halfway up the tower one of the scarves looks out the window unfortunately noticing Myra, who promptly thorn whips him out the window to plummet to the ground below. Meanwhile, at the top of the tower, Hagren's stealth has run out as Mr. Nice Guy looks out the window directly into his face. Hagren using the surprise of being at the window promptly kicking it in an action movie style knocking Mr. Nice Guy down the stairs as he went.
