The Haaradis
The Basics
Early on in the reign of King Nathanial, the last King of Candle’Bre, the capitol of the Kingdom was moved west and an impressive castle built for the King, which was completed toward the latter part of his reign. The hope was that by moving the capitol west, the King would encourage his subjects to continue the westward expansion and solidify their hold over the western reaches of the Basin. Sadly, King Nathanial and the entire Royal Family met their end in the castle, and due to the massive reverse migration that has occurred since, the entire province of Wyndamere was abandoned. Since that time, the secretive Haaradan have moved into the region and the High Council of the Haaradis have taken up residence in what was the Last King’s home. They’ve never been overly fond of the rest of the Basin’s population, seeing them more as subjects to be ruled over than peers, and since claiming the province as their own, almost no word has leaked out about the comings and doings inside the former province. None can say for sure what plans the Haaradis may have in motion, but they have consistently sough to bring down the Kingdom and assert their own authority over the whole of the Realm…Political Situation
The provinces of Wyndamere and Vandamere were abandoned and the the Haaradis simply moved in and claimed both. Given the presence of the powerful humanoid tribes that dominate the West, it is too far off the beaten path for any of the established powers in the Basin to try and take it from them, and if they did, the Haaradis have already demonstrated a willingness to work with the humanoid tribes, employing them as mercenaries to help project their power. At the end of the day, having these two territories firmly in hand gives them a strong foundation to build on, and anyone who is a student of history should be very worried about what the Haaradis might be up to in “their” province, surrounded by bloodthirsty humanoids or not.Prominent People & Places
The Palace of the Last King of Candle’Bre is far and away the most important locale in the province, which is quite beautiful and dotted with lakes and streams.Plot Threads
The Haaradis make an excellent foil, and while it would be difficult to make an entire campaign around the castle, it would be an excellent setting for the final few adventures of a campaign centered around Haaradan machinations.
