Frost Character in Candle'Bre | World Anvil

Frost

Where the Enchantress of the Silver river represents the Seelie Courts, Frost represents the Unseelie. He has left his castle in the Shadowfell and relocated to the Candle'Bre, if the rumors are to be believed, where he now resides, somewhere in the north eastern reaches of the Basin. If this is indeed the case, no one has put eyes on his new keep in the Basin and lived to tell the tale, though it is true that over the past several years, winter seems to come earlier and linter longer in the northeast, so there may be something to the stories after all.   Related rumors claim that he is out of favor in the Shadow Court and was run out of his keep in the Shadowfell, rather than having left of his own accord, and thus, is seeking to turn the Basin into his new fiefdom.   That's the funny thing about rumors though. They spread easily and seem to grow more fanciful and outlandish over time. How much of that is true is anyone's guess, but it is certainly true that among the Basin's population, there are a few who swear fealty to Frost, trading their time and favors for power.   It's also true that Frost is an incredibly powerful Unseelie Lord, who is, given his position, a most valuable ally or Patron to have, so it is easy to see how and why some people may be drawn into service.   Where the Enchantress of the Silver River has been an unquestioned force for good in the Realm and has been here for a very long time, Frost is a relatively new arrival and his exact aims and goals remain a mystery.

Joining the Cult of Frost

One of the many stories Aspirants will hear regarding Frost's arrival in the basin is that the Raven Queen, of the Shadow Court gifted the land to one of her strongest and most loyal subjects, the Lord of Frost (“Jack Frost” as he is sometimes playfully referred to as, but only by people who have never actually encountered him).   The stories also say that Frost came to the Basin not long after the Eye fell. That he was among the first of the Fey explorers to reach the new land.   Exactly where he resides in the Basin is a mystery. What is known, however, is that Frost is actively recruiting supplicants to his cause, promising power in exchange for service. While none can say with certainty what his ultimate aims and goals are, they are likely a mixture of his own personal ambitions and whatever charge the Raven Queen may have given him in terms of administering his new holdings.   Because of his imprisonment, Astaroth speaks to his followers in whispered dreams. Bel’Sheggorath speaks to his supplicants in omens, portents and nightmares that invade the soul, Frost takes a much more hands-on approach, and if a supplicant be sufficiently worthy, it is not unheard of to get an in-person visit, from either a Greater Fey who represents the Lord of Frost, or from Frost himself.   According to those who will speak of such things, those who seek a pact with Frost may only do so in the hour before dawn in late autumn or early winter as the morning frost is forming. The supplicant must appear in a forlorn field, unclothed and present himself, along with a vial of tears in a crystal flask. If the offering is deemed worthy of a Prince of the Shadow Lands, an emissary of Frost will appear.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Frost plays things close to the vest.  No one (not even his followers) know exactly what he wants.  At best, Supplicants will be given enough information to complete whatever assignment Frost has in mind for them, but no information about how that fits into the whole of his larger plan.
