Tiwethi

They're massive, rather like walruses but probably different colors. Purple? A little bit of camouflage to go with the planet? They're not considered to be as intelligent as the other species on the planet, the Yilneh and the Vrixid, but they're also the most sensible and they fairly deliberately keep their technology limited to balance out the other two.
Balance is a huge thing for them. Really really big, actually. It's their whole life philosophy. There's some debate as to whether it might require the death of someone if they're being killed to maintain it, but a lot of the sects tend to state that death in itself is imbalance.
They got along really well with the Vrixid when they were around, because their minds leaving their bodies upon death seems incredibly balanced to them. Not quite as well with the Yilneh because they don't like having people read their minds, as knowing the internal thoughts runs counter to balance as if one must balance thoughts as well as actions it starts to get complicated and so they train a lot to keep out telepathy.
The Vienaran Sect views them as monsters because they have huge tusks and massive clawed hands and it hasn't occurred to them that someone might be intelligent enough to reach the stars but just not want to.
Maybe a bit like the ogiers in WoT, they have an intense psychological connection to their homes, and staying away too long will kill them. Their written language is fairly complex as it works with details from both of the other cultures as well as their own traditions. The Federation would absolutely love these guys for their desire for a nuanced approach, but they wouldn't like the Federation as much because they would feel that they tend to override too much with their own cultural wants and traditions.
