Cib's Foot

This is an artifact that the Gatrelix recovered from their moon that they believe was put there by themselves in the distant past but was actually left there by the Vrixid as a kind of safe house because Cib's Foot is actually one of the items needed to help their solar system stabilize in its proper place once again.
Not that the Gatrelix know this at all. They think it's cool, and old, and since it doesn't do anything for them then they're convinced that it's not anything at all.
It would really turn on if the T'Vienor Expanse were to show up somewhere nearby again. Would help them navigate correctly and get home again.
However, what they think it is is actually the ancient robotic foot of somebody named Cib who was supposed to have made himself part cyborg, rather like the Borg, and shot himself off into space and died there. It's clearly not actual Borg, though, because he was supposed to be in control of himself and also the description is totally wrong. But here you have his foot, supposedly, from the moon, and they think it's just fine. Kind of weird and monstrous and all, but it's more of a curiosity.
Most people have forgotten that they even got something from the moon at all and it's just a doodad. An old art piece.
If this is one of several pieces in conjunction, perhaps there should be clues with the other bits to indicate where this one is, and also that it might not be in the proper place.
