The Planekeepers
Protectors of the Beyond
The Planeskeepers are a shadowy guild of extraplanar travelers who consider themselves responsible for keeping the planes in check. They once worked closely with The Illuminary , but split from them in 259 AFD when they began to disagree on the archivists' manipulation of extraplanar magics.
Most go their whole lives without ever meeting a Planeskeeper. And those who do toil in the great beyond share tall tales of the mighty Planeskeeper - who are now thought of as more myth than fact.
New Planeskeepers come about in one of two ways. The first is through apprenticeship. Typically, Planeskeepers will pass the torch on to their own kin, raising them from a young age to take their place and protect those who stray from the material plane. High ranking Planeskeepers will make their homes in the outer planes themselves, but the majority keep a low profile on the material plane to deal with extraplanar threats that bleed into the world.
Alternatively, a Planeskeeper may keep a close eye on one they deem worthy of joining their ranks. When the time is right, they will approach and offer for them to become a Planeskeeper.
