Trixie Hatter

A precocious young half-nymph, Trixie undoubtedly has opinions on everything and everyone and will be damned if anyone can stop her from voicing them when she wants to. This hasn't stopped her from becoming one of the core members of the Mariner's crew, however. Her blunt, matter-of-fact nature combined with a general laissez-faire attitude and unrivalled skills with the ship's guns quickly endeared her to the Captain. With her aim in life seeming to be little more than to blow things up in the most spectacular way possible and also get as much under the doctor's skin as she possibly can, the casual observer can easily miss the unshakable loyalty and drive to protect those closest to her that lies just beneath the surface.

Personal history

"Born" somewhat by accident to a nymph and a human, Trixie has always been a bit of a mixed bag. Taken in by her father, as nymphs are bound to their homes, Trixie grew up around the ticking clocks of his own design. Creativity was highly encouraged by her father and her curiosity led her to expand her mind to the point that she had obtained a scholarship at the esteemed College of Chenya.
While her father's unique way of thinking had brought them great success, his scatterbrained tendencies grew worse with age. In a way, going to school was an escape from the pain she sometimes felt when her father got so lost in a project that entire weeks would pass without his notice, or when he would be distracted by a sudden idea. Leaving him in the care of a kindly neighbour to go pursue her future, Trixie felt a weight drop from her shoulders and subsequently settle in her stomach.
College life was tougher than she'd imagined. Teachers expected her to sit still and follow along with the lessons in a "proper" manner, most of the books she was made to read were boring with minimal diagrams to break up the long, monotonous pages of text, and she found herself occasionally harassed by the more numerous male students of the college. Little ways to rebel quickly evolved into big ways, and the young woman made it a point to learn how to effectively fight dirty since scaring off fellow students with explosions and firearms was generally very frowned upon to the point of it being pointless to try.
Her schooling had its upsides, though. Trixie quickly found in herself a love and talent for chemistry, particularly when it pertained to making things explode in entertaining ways. The recreational activities at the college also sparked new interests in her, such as the aforementioned firearms, and she discovered that she had quite the sense of distance and aim.
Of course all things must come to an end. Trixie found herself having to flee Chenya altogether after accidentally blowing up half a wing in one of the buildings, including the library. Hiding herself in an empty crate at the docks, the next thing the half-nymph knew was that she was on a pirate ship. Making a strong case for herself, Trixie talked her way into the master gunner position on the Blue Mariner, which was in desperate need of one at the time.
It's now been nearly a year since she joined the crew, and the ship has effectively become her home. Even if falling overboard would probably wind up being the worst thing to ever happen to her.
