Barquen

To an outsider, Barquen may sound like slurred consonants at best, and hissing at worst. This is partially due to the fact that the language has evolved to accommodate the high number of Lamia-related inhabitants of the country. The language itself is quite direct, with little need for flowery language in conversation.   There are several dialects, which seem to follow the natural divides between both geographic areas and species delineation between Lamia types. Most Barquen dialects are tonal, though there are a couple which are not. The latter are more commonly spoken by humans, and are considered a stepping stone for those wishing to learn Barquen.

Writing System

The Barquen alphabet is comprised of long, flowing letters which seem to run into each other to form words.

Geographical Distribution

Spoken mostly by Barquen citizens, though it can also occasionally be found in large coastal towns off the continent.
