Carapax

Carapax is a small trading city, built on top of The almighty world shaker, a Colossal tortoise in the Talon Terrace.

It is a self governing trade hub and a haven for criminals, assassins and other nefarious characters, as they have a strict policy of only investigating and prosecuting crimes that happened in the city.

Politics

The city was originally administered by a mayor that executed on the decisions of the Council for the Preservation of the City order.
However, two years ago a Succubus called Theia took over the mayoral position and convinced the council to relinquish their power to her. Leaving them with more ceremonial and mundane tasks. Since then she has ruled with a remarkably high approval rating.

Culture

Although most of the economy of the city is based on the trade of goods deemed illegal in other parts of the continent, only a small fraction of the population is dealing with that trade directly. So the culture is far more defined by dealing with and under organizations that facilitate those trades, then by the people that actually do, or that are part of those organizations.

In general. the population can be divided into the followers of the Temple of the almighty world shaker that see the Colossal tortoise their city is built upon as a deity and protector of some sort and the people on the side of Council for the Preservation of the City order that see the tortoise as a creature to be cared for called Matthew.

Economy & Infrastructure

The nature of the city makes farming or production of goods impractical. Therefore, the primary driver of economics is the import, obfuscation and legitimization, and reexport of illicit goods. As well as the import and reexport of the legal goods necessary to facilitate the obfuscation and legitimization.
