Radomir Dragovei

Count Radomir Dragavei (a.k.a. The Puppet Master)

Count Radomir Dragovei is the ruler of a county in the Duchy of Trasnia consisting mainly of the swamplands known as the Dragamire. He has a reputation as a charismatic and ingenuitive inventor who has steered House Dragavei in a different direction during his time in charge. Spending a great deal of time, energy, and gold toward his own projects, he is often underestimated in his diplomacy, but those with more experience see him for what he truely is: an insightful manipulator who creates webs within webs to further his own goals. Chaos is a ladder, and if it is the only means to rise then he will create a structured chaos to avoid stagnation.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Radomir Dragavei is a man just into his elder years, though he could easily be mistaken for a decade or more younger than he is in his current condition. He has a moderately built physique and stands a few inches over 6 foot, giving an imposing presence to some despite his age. He often dresses in clothes of black and gold with accents of various colors - despite his wealth and standing among nobility he has little creativity when it comes to elegant dress for himself.

Personal history

Early Life

Like all Dragavei children before him, Radomir was brought up on the tales of his family, and taught the ways of the sword and of knightly honor - a value Radomir never found much interest in keeping himself, but found very useful in others. Born the third of three children, Radomir was overlooked for most of his childhood in favor of his elder brothers who would inherit Castle Dragavei while he was likely to be married off to another family or inherit a lord’s estate in his family’s county. Tragically, in his late teens, his brothers were killed in a hunting accident and he became heir to the county.

His parents, distraught at the sudden and unexplainable deaths of his brothers, gave him little more attention than they already had. He was passed off from tutor to tutor, expected to continue the legacy of the Dragavei and become a knight, but while he had skill, he never much cared for dirtying his own hands on the field. Additionally, due to his eldest brother's death, he was immediately betrothed to his fiancé, who became his first wife.

After nearly nine years, his first rocky marriage ended when his wife died, yet even in that time they had no children. His parents then arranged a new marriage to another noble family with similar results. His parents died some years later, one after the other and Radomir took up the mantle of lord of Dragmire and head of his house.

Recently

Over the last decades, Radomir has declined to remarry, choosing instead to focus on funding his family's interests in the medical sciences and new technological advancements coming from the city of Seval, where the Society of Immortal Visions is headquartered. Several alchemical advances have been made thanks to the many unique plants of the Dragmire and the continued support by his house.

The greatest advancement in this time has been the creation and continued innovation of constructs which go by the name of Manikins - or in many cases, "fireflies". These constructs have put House Dragavei on the map like never before, and many nobles have been gifted with these continuously advancing automatons. However, while the ingenuity of House Dragavei has never been greater in the eyes of many, there are those who distrust this new technology simply for Radomir's reputation as a gifted and unforgiving manipulator and statesman, believing that he is somehow using them as spies.

Accomplishments & Achievements

  • Invention of the Manikin automatons.
  • Expansion of medical and alchemical research involving the strange new plants of the Dragmire, namely the Golden Dragavei plant.
  • Earning the title of HIgh Visionary within the Society of Immortal Visions.

Failures & Embarrassments

  • Was unable to save the woman he loved from a disease of the spirit.

Morality & Philosophy

Radomir Dragavei is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals without getting his hands dirty and while maintaining an air of lawfulness outwardly in his dealings.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Power. Radomir Dragavei, despite his growing age and lack of heir, shows no signs of halting his pursuit of gaining more and more power. Power over people and politics being his major focus. Economic power with which to sway others being secondary. Military and physical power is of the least interest to him, but something he has a fair amount of regardless due to his station.

Personality Quirks

Radomir often fidgets with a ring he always wears on his right middle finger.

Representation & Legacy

The symbol of House Dragavei is representation of Radomir as before he took power within his house the symbol was one of a black dragon. Since he inherited his seat he has changed the symbol to be one more associated with him: A golden firefly in front of a black castle with a small dragon still incorporated beneath the castle. As such, fireflies have become a symbol of the count to those familiar with him.

Radomir currently leaves behind no heirs and seems to have no plan to do so, leaving his house - to outsiders - in a questionable state. However, he will be well remembered for many steps in medical, alchemical and artifice, both for his support of these pursuits through his heavy investment in the League of Immortal Visions and his own achievements involving the Golden Dragavei plant and the invention of the Manikins.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Radomir has few any would call "friend" or even "partner". He has ties with the League of Immortal Visions as a High Visionary and various ties with noble houses, but Radomir has been without a dedicated partner in his dealings for some time. His last known associate disappeared years ago with a great deal of ill will going with him. It is not something spoken of in the presence of the count, it is only known that he was enraged by the betrayal and likely attempted - with no known level of success - to track them down.

Religious Views

Count Radomir is a open worshiper of the Red Queen, as required by all nobles within Trandrafia.

Social Aptitude

Though Radomir is a skilled diplomat and talker, his charisma is lent a great deal from his reputation and name. His greatest skill is through manipulation of an individual or group's weak points, which is well known but still works miraculously. As such his demeanor is one of confidence and superiority in most situations.

Despite this, Count Radomir rarely takes trips out of his castle anymore, save the occasional trip into Dragesti nearby, so engrossed in his own work and using his influence to bid other nobles and people of esteem to visit him instead. As such he has begun to be seen as a pariah. Yet his power over those he does converse with has not wavered.

Wealth & Financial state

Count Radomir rules over a vast amount of land within the Duchy of Trasnia, making him a very wealthy man. However, he is not the most wealthy in terms of currency and valuables. His greatest wealth comes in the form of investments and assets set aside in other duchies, counties or organizations.
