DescriptionThe Shroudreaver is a masterpiece of war. Its handle is thick, carved only for the strongest of hands. Its head has a luster, even though its sharp blades have cut the heads of thousands of beasts. The runes inscribed on the side of the handle perform a constant spell of restoration; when so much as a scratch is put upon its surface, it instantly repairs itself. The runes upon the axehead perform a very interesting spell, upon the blade’s contact when cutting through flesh. The powers of the wind surge forth from the opposite blade, ensuring Shroudreaver always goes straight through its target.
History
Forged in the fires of Vilkenhöfer’s great forge, made with the strongest steel, the sturdiest wood of the large trees on the settlement’s mountainside, Shroudreaver was made by the order of Reichart the First. The runes were inscribed by Ilse the Mad, even though he insisted he wanted only his strength to determine the outcomes of his battles. Though, in time, he grew to enjoy the feeling of power that Shroudreaver gave him, as he sliced cleanly through each enemy he faced. Reichart the First held Shroudreaver until his death in 256, upon which Reichart the Second wielded the great weapon. Stories say in his time, he was able to kill over two thousand of the eldritch with Shroudreaver alone. It fit well in his capable hands until his untimely death in 302. For over a year, the great weapon lay dormant as Reichart the Third recovered from the tragic event, but in 304, it was once again in hands worthy of its power, where it stays to this day.
