The Golden Brand
Due to their being the ‘youngest’ of the War Guilds, the Gold still retain a great of comprehensibility in their Brand and their Terran origins makes the symbols more familiar to one of as fine a birth as myself. The core symbol of the War Guild is the head of the Golden Cath, which to Terran eyes is not dissimilar to the imagery of a lion whose ears are flared outwards and fangs bared in defiance. Its mouth holds the likeness of a burning world marked clearly enough to suggest a specific planet and its face is intertwined with the images a ring of spear-wielding warriors so as to suggest a mane and a sun. This symbol is beneath roughly eight images although I lack a precise meaning behind their intended feats or the allusion which they draw, a horse split by a broken blade and three triumphant axes sheared in twin being predominant.
The Golden brand is the most uniform in its application, being literally branded onto the right shoulder in a fashion which reminds of the sigils of the Astartes. It is known that upon ascension, the mark is carved anew by the neophyte Astartes and the flesh is stenciled with an alchemical mixture native to Hollow that lends a metallic sheen to the brand. Curiously, it seems traditional for the recitation of the rolls of honor of the Legion prior to their reunification with their Primarch and that this is to be done by memory during the ritual.
