Far

The Far possess one of the strangest gene-quirks, in its extremity if not in perhaps in its innate inhumanity, which makes them almost entirely dissimilar to their ancestors in Ind. The Far divide themselves between two groups, the Dokkal and the Ljosal. Where one might assume this refers to two subgroups or perhaps two cultures with a shared ancestry, the two are akin to sex. Any given child born to Far parentage is equally likely to be born Dokkal as they are Ljosal regardless of the nature of their sires and as we shall discuss further on, they are seen in the same context as sex. Dokkal are born with skin as black as pitch and tresses which range from dull silver to brimming white and eyes as pale as ice. Ljosal are almost a complete inverse, with skin so pale that even the flow of the blood fails to redden their skin to any significant degree against raven black lengths of hair and eyes as dark as the void. While still within the expectations of what one would expect from any other man or woman, Far of both types tend to towards being clean-limbed and muscular.
Far have a noted preference for cold weather and this is the likely reason why they favor the frigid continents of Normbech and Coin as well as regions of Yominysa, Hiber’Cale and Brasil. Their cultures can be roughly grouped into eight states and countless component tribes with admittedly little in common beyond an especially obtuse variant of Gothic and their views regarding Dokkal and Ljosal. The roughest approximation I have discerned for an outsider to comprehend Dokkal and Ljosal as understood by the Far themselves is to approximate them to how other cultures prescribe gender to sex. Dokkal are recognizably feminine to many Terran cultures while Ljosal are considered the more masculine aspect, this extends to a somewhat primitive cultural prohibition to Far Dokkal engaging in violent or dangerous lifestyles and a view that Far Ljosal are unsuited to artisanal and academic pursuits. It is similarly seen as encouraged for a kin-group to try to maintain an equal number of Ljosal and Dokkal in order to maintain a ‘balanced’ fortune.
Far are found among the Silver, Emerald and Onyx guilds with a stark predominance in the Pearl guild. It is my understanding that the master of Pearl is in fact a Far Dokkal.
