Catcu

A nomadic people found only on the amusingly named continent of Brasil, these merchant-raiders are renowned for their walking cities, fine steeds and the Ur-Cath which race alongside their cavalry. Although they trace their origin to the lesser isle of Albia, they scarcely resemble their modern kin. These lithesome wanderers range from mahogany to teak in coloration with manes that range from a dark gold to a pale platinum. Most queer are their eyes however, which are renowned to reach potentially any possible color with the condition of heterochromia being an uncommon trait, the closest to common shade I have seen is an uncanny red which is burgundy at one moment and scarlet at another. They are not to be seen as an especially numerous people and it is speculated that they number no more than thirty million if one is generous and this is due in no small part to the conception that it is unwise for a couple to bare more than two children.   The Catcu are a lively folk in their manner and dress, they dress in vibrant colors and their knotwork tends to feature a beautiful rainbow of colors. My discussion with their scholars has led me to believe that Catcu hold that a lack of color is a symptom of moral corruption and that this is due to some connection to their unusual number of ‘Voidbanes’. This latter characteristic likely correlates to their fondness for the pursuit of a scavenging profession (or Seeker, if one prefers), which is often cast in moralistic terms. This translates to their clans possessing a unique tendency to raid ancient depots and automated factories for the wealth which they sell in their port-cities, with inter-clan skirmishes being fought for the rights to given sites. This image as I have described it understandably presents a people primitive even by the generous standards set by Calengwag and superstitious as well.   While they do not follow the standard configurations of a guild structure, their kind can seemingly be found among most any guild and have come to present a considerable percentage of the Golden Guild with a notable presence in the Pearl.
