Scope
The motivation behind building Calduron
Ever since I've been a little kid I've dreamed of escaping this world for a more spectacular one. This is an attempt to bring this world into being; to bring the scattered thoughts and ideas together into one form. The world itself is an anagram for the word cauldron, because in fairytales witches would combine different ingredients to concoct something magical. That is precisely what I hope to achieve with my own "concoction."
The goal of the project
I want something that has substance. Not just a bunch of interesting day dreams that only I can enjoy, but a consistent world that anyone can experience
Calduron's Unique Selling point
This is a world where danger, excitement, and adventure abounds. It isn't, by any means, a fairy tale world where only happy endings exist. There are real dangers and real consequences, but also real hope and real fulfilment. You can help others, save lives, and make this world a better place.
Theme
Genre
The setting of this world is a sort of fantasy grimdark. A world where magic is considered a science, and follows laws just as science does. And like science, magic in this world is structured and unforgiving. There aren't any miracle events that will occur just because someone needs it to happen, and rash mistakes will not not go without consequences. That said, it will also have a lot of heart and endearing characters that you'll grow to love. Just don't get too attached to ALL of them...
Reader Experience
I hope to make the general feel of this world to be wonder; a world where anything can happen. Wonderous but dangerous, rewarding but unforgiving, beautiful yet cold, like a flower made of ice. A world that will lower your guard with enjoyable characters and great chemistry at some points, and betray your trust with mishaps and tragedy at others. I strive to be able to balance the two feelings without taking away from either.
Reader Tone
This world is dark and full of consequences, but that does not mean that it doesn't also have bright, hopeful, and fulfilling moments. One could argue that the darkness compliments, or is even necessary for the bright moments this world has to offer.
Recurring Themes
One of the recurring themes will be that Fortune has its favorites. Some characters will be born into bodies of varying health, status, and overall circumstance, all of which can change in a decade or in an instant. The second recurring theme is that you can't let your circumstance or "cursed fate" stop you from doing everything you can to succeed. Never give up trying to win despite the world
Character Agency
The main characters are people. They posses great potential, but are still imperfect beings in a world full of imperfect, and at times, much more dangerous beings. Throughout their story they will become stronger, wiser, and more competent, but as their ability grows, so shall the challenges they must overcome. But even the strongest beings can make mistakes. My characters will make many of those too, and will have to live with their consequences and grow through them. I plan to keep plot armor as light as realistically possible
Drama
The main drama isn't the initial focal point of the story as much as it is a looming and undetected threat. The Three False Kings of legend, the ones responsible for starting the Great Defiling War, have been reborn, and wish to revive the last
