Silrook

Build around a monastery worshiping the Platinum Dragon Bahamut, the houses of the village balance on the mountain ridges of the Rathostian Mountains with a view of the Lasnazar Valley to the south and the Ryahilheinn Mountains to the east. It is said that Silrook is build on the bones of the fallen avatar form of Bahamut, and that the natives are direct decendants of the Platinum Dragon himself. The village is the center of worship for Bahamut due to the monestary. It is an open secret that the village is protected by a patron dragon, D'zrunthanach ("The Gleaming"), an ancient gold dragon living deep underneath the monestary in long forgotten ruins.

Demographics

Silrook is made up of 99% dragonborns. The inhabitants of the town are mostly worshipers and aculytes of Bahamut, but those that don't work in the monastery works in a variety of jobs, most of which is in the service business such as shop owners or craftsmen. Due to the harsh climate, the surrounding area has very little to offer in regards to ressources, and therefore all ressources including food and fabrics have to be imported to the town.

High Priest Zethrak

A wise and well-travelled Platinum Dragonborn who leads the sect of the Platinum Dragon in Silrook. He is a venerable dragonborn with scales that shimmer like polished silver. He speaks with a deep, authoritative voice and carries himself with the confidence of someone who has seen much of the world. Despite his age, he is still sharp-minded and well-respected among the people of Silrook.

Elder Kethrax

A respected leader in the community who advises the high priest and helps to maintain the town's traditions and customs. He is a stoic and wise dragonborn who exudes an air of quiet authority. He is deeply connected to the town's customs and traditions, and is often sought out for advice and guidance by both the high priest and the townspeople. He has a commanding presence and is highly respected by all.

Arina

She is a master blacksmith, with muscles bulging beneath her blue scales from years of hard work at the forge. She has a sharp mind and an eye for detail, and her weapons and armor are highly sought after by the town's defenders. She has a no-nonsense attitude and is highly focused on her craft.

Braxis

A young and ambitious wizard who seeks to uncover the secrets of the Rathostian Mountains and further the knowledge of the sect. He is a young and energetic, with piercing blue eyes and a shock of white spikes sticking out from his head that sets him apart from the others. He is highly intelligent and always eager to learn more, constantly tinkering with magical theories and experimenting with new spells. He can come across as brash at times, but his passion for knowledge is infectious.

Jaxor

A grizzled veteran who fought in the war against the orcs and now serves as a trainer for the town's warriors. He has scars crisscrossing his scales from years of battle. He is a tough, no-nonsense trainer who takes great pride in preparing the town's warriors for battle. He has a gruff exterior, but is fiercely loyal to the town and to Bahamut.

Nalrax

A talented musician who composes ballads and hymns in praise of Bahamut. She has a hauntingly beautiful voice that can bring tears to the eyes of even the toughest dragonborn. She composes ballads and hymns in praise of Bahamut, and her songs are highly valued by the townspeople. She is soft-spoken and gentle, but her music can stir the soul. She mostly frequents the local inn but if the weather is nice he can be met at the market square or near the Way of the Dragon.

Korva

A stern but fair judge who presides over disputes and enforces the laws of the sect. She has a keen eye for justice and a no-nonsense attitude. She is highly respected for her fairness and her unwavering adherence to the laws of the sect. She can be intimidating at times, but her sense of justice is unshakeable.

Talis

A curious and adventurous acolyte who is always seeking out new knowledge and experiences. She has a thirst for knowledge and adventure. She is always seeking out new experiences and is highly curious about the world around her. She can come across as impulsive and headstrong at times, but her heart is in the right place and her enthusiasm is infectious.

Gethar

A jovial brewer who crafts a potent ale that is only served in the town's tavern. Gethar has a booming laugh and a quick wit. He crafts a potent ale that is highly prized by the townspeople, and is often found regaling patrons with stories and jokes in the town's tavern. He has a laid-back attitude and is highly regarded for his skill at his craft.

Lirax

A shy and reclusive herbalist who grows rare plants that are used in the town's healing potions. She has a deep knowledge of the plants and herbs that grow in the Rathostian Mountains. She is highly respected for her expertise in creating healing potions and remedies, and her knowledge is highly valued by the townspeople. She can be somewhat aloof at times, but her dedication to her craft is unwavering.

Points of interest

The Shrine of the Gleaming

A small very descrete shrine located near the foot of the stairs leading to the Monastery, and where offerings and prayers can be made to the patron dragon of Silrook. It's a small wooden shrine, with a small sculpture of a dragon carved from stone and decorated with precious metals and gems. At the foot of the sculpture is a basin in which people leave their offerings, mostly coins, gems or other precious items.

The Way of the Dragon

The path leading up to the peak of the mountain where the Monastery is located, marked with statues, carvings, and other symbols representing Bahamut and his teachings. This path is taken by pilgrims and adventurers seeking to undertake the Path of the Dragon, or worshipers of Bahamut wanting to join the Platinum Path or simply just to worship at the temple.

Dragon's View Monastery

The primary location in Silrook, where the High Priest and his acolytes reside, and where the main worship services and ceremonies take place. The Monastery looks down over the town, and has an evergoing blue flame in a small tower on its roof, that's a beacon to the people.

The Hall of Justice

A small courthouse and tribunal where disputes among the townspeople are resolved according to the principles of justice and honor taught by the sect. Korva is the towns judge, and runs the Hall of Justice.

The Market Square

A small plaza or market where goods and produce from nearby regions are bought and sold. It's a gathering place for both locals and visitors. At the market place one can find:
The Silver Scales: A jewelry stall run by a middle-aged dragonborn woman named Zara. She specializes in crafting intricate pieces of jewelry using precious metals and gemstones. Her stall is adorned with various necklaces, bracelets, and rings on display.
The Dragon's Flame: A spice stall run by a jovial dragonborn man named Kael. He sells an array of exotic spices from all around the world, such as saffron, cumin, and coriander. His stall is filled with colorful jars and bags of spices, each with their unique aroma.
The Iron Anvil: A blacksmith stall run by a gruff dragonborn named Gorn. He specializes in crafting weapons and armor for adventurers, using only the finest materials. His stall is filled with various swords, shields, and armor pieces on display. The Iron Anvil is a co-owned by Arina, the owner of The Forge of the Dragon.
The Rolling Keg: A beverage stall run by a friendly dragonborn named Drog. He serves a variety of drinks, from ale to mead to fruit juices. His stall is decorated with various wooden barrels and casks, with the scent of alcohol permeating the air.
The Dragon's Den: A magical items stall run by a mysterious dragonborn named Vex. He sells a range of enchanted items, such as potions, scrolls, and talismans. His stall is shrouded in an aura of mystery, with various strange trinkets and artifacts on display.

The Tower of Vigilance

A tall tower located at the edge of the town overlooking the surrounding mountains and valleys, and used as a lookout post to keep watch for potential threats to the town and its people. The tower and the towns defence is run by Jaxor, a grizzled veteran who fought in the war against the orcs and now serves as a trainer for the town's warriors.

The Forge of the Dragon

A blacksmith's workshop owned by Arina, a skilled craftsman, creating weapons and armor imbued with the power and blessings of Bahamut. The weapons created here would be highly valued by adventurers and those seeking to undertake the Path of the Dragon.

Dragon's Hearth

The towns inn, a cosy and welcoming establishment that offers warmth and comfort for those seeking refuge from the weather. The inn is owned by Ketharion a warm and friendly dragonborn known for his welcoming demeanor and great food.

Architecture

The town is build in the traditional style of Deadreachia, which means 2 story buildings with a short lower floor surrounded by a covered walkway, multilayered curved roofs and colorful walls carved from stone with intricate details and symbols.
The buildings are build on the ridges of the mountain, and therefore many of them are either carved down into the mountain, or have been build on stilts. Most of the houses have no gardens, but pathways leading to the stairs to the main floor, or to the covered walkways underneath the main floor.

Climate

The village lies on the top of one of the ridges of the Rathostian Mountains and therefore is a very cold and windy place. In the summer the temperature gets above freezing, but only very rarely are there no snow. The mountain the village lies on is surrounded by banks of shimmering mists said to assume haunting forms when evil creatures are near warning creatures of the danger (result of presence of D'zrunthanach).
