A Winter Solstice Ritual

During the day of the Winter Solstice a group of Gnolls led by 3 Fangs of Yeenoghu endeavored to complete a ritual in an attempt to bring their god to the land of Calandyrion.
Our group of adventures came to gain knowledge about Gnolls. They tracked and killed some only to find out that the problem was bigger that they initially believed. Having been informed that the Gnoll issue could not be resolved as long as there existed a "Fang of Yeenoghu" surviving to recreate replacement Gnolls and increase their number. It took the group, now known as the "Force Patrol", 6 more weeks to locate a Gnoll they could follow back to the Gnoll Lair.
[p[Once the Gnoll Lair was located it became clear that the Force Patrol strong enough to confront the clan. It was not long before they realized that some sort of ritual was being conducted. At that point, they sent one of their number, Eddie Stone, back to Caesion to alert the authorities. Just as Eddie was arriving in Caesion, on the day of the Winter Solstice, it became apparent that something important had just happened.Ren and Merric, who had stayed behind at the Gnoll Lair, were able to determine that some religious ritual was about to be performed. Unable to interrupt the ceremony, without getting themselves killed, Ren and Merric watched aghast as 5 living sacrifices, representing each of the races, were bled out and their blood used to complete they lines of their pentagram. As the Gnolls finished the ritual a column of fire shot into the sky and Yeenoghu attempted to enter the world. It was at this point that Yeenoghu was snatched back and the visage of Orcus replaced him. Orcus mocked the Gnolls, killed the Fangs of Yeenoghu, placed a skeletal form upon the alter and withdrew backward through the portal. It was then that the column of fire exploded in the air and a thunderclap was heard across the land.
As the thunder rumbled on, the skeletal form appeared to cast a spell on the surviving Gnoll Hunters and then went on to disappear from the area. Those surviving Gnolls left the area in a crazed rage and were gone before anything could be done to prevent them from doing so. [/]
