Ameny Penry's friends set about finding young adventurous people to seek out the reason that anomalies and change is coming to Calandyrion. In doing so, Slepra Consbilick wandering around Akkalion found a young halfling that showed promise using his hands and cunning to survive after the death of his parents.

The boy would need to gain experience and self-discipline to fulfill his potential. On the other hand, Geren Wenderfoot traveling the towns and villages of Marganation came upon a young lad living in Emona, the son of a fishing family, with a keen sense of music and little desire to follow in his father’s footsteps Geren believed Eddie’s skills could be better put to use writing the and singing the changes of the times.

The final candidate was found among President Penry’s own city guards by Kleitos Champion of Ameny and Captain of the City Guard provided a subordinate Ren who Kleitos feared might usurp his position within the guard. Kleitos hopes Ren, given a taste of adventure, will never return to the City Guard.
