Endil (N-dill)
Endil, the largest city in Caladrius. The home of science and technology, full of vast wealth and prosperity. Known as the City of Iron, Endil is surrounded by 50ft walls of solid Iron. Etched into the metalworking is the complete tale of the city's beginnings to the completion of the wall. While those not fortunate enough to enter the city, you can see the metal skyscrapers towering above. Endil is comprised of 4 rings, separated by walls, including the outer defense wall. Each wall has different openings to allow workers and merchants to travel between the rings. All passages are heavily guarded and require papers to allow access into the next ring. The first ring is comprised of the tallest skyscrapers and are used to all trade and business dealings. The majority of imports and exports are decided by this sector. Merchants from different cities are only granted access to the outermost quarter and only middle class families are allowed to reside here. The next quarter houses the slums and prisons. There is one prison on the north and south side of the ring and the remaining space is comprised of square houses stacked on top of each other for room. The only ones allowed in this ring are guards and businessmen traveling through. certain people are selected to leave this ring and move on to the next for professional training, such as doctors, engineers, or teachers. Once you are born in this ring, it is incredibly difficult to live in another ring. The 3rd ring is the Market ring. Here the entire ring is comprised of vendors selling imports of all kinds. There are flower stands, meat stands, produce stands, apothecaries, and stands selling regular goods. this section is heavily guarded to prevent theft and fighting among the streets. Each vendor is given a specific color based on the items they sell. The innermost ring is the most beautiful ring in Endil. This section houses the richest and bet of Endil's population. Only people who live in this sector are given full access. In the middle of this ring however, there is the mining shaft, where people go down below the city to extract iron from the natural deposit. It is in the middle of one of the many gardens of the ring. This ring has the main River running through with the cleanest water. There are many schools and hospitals as well, and is also the house of the city government.
No city survives without strength, and our strength is Iron. ~Autumn DallAutumn Dall is the long ruling paxoral of Endil. She is a symbol of strength and doesn't tolerate crime withing the rings. She has been known as the "Iron Woman" for her solid resting face, which is known to unnerve even the toughest of warriors.
Localized Phenomena
Due to the incredible wind and the many skyscrapers in the Business district, at the right moment, you will be able to hear singing coming from the 1st ring. Due to the speed of the wind passing through the large and close buildings, they produce a calm sound that you can hear throughout the city and surrounding plains.
Climate
Because Endil rests in the valley of Xythmbrg, they are subject to extremely strong winds most of the year. Due to the walls surrounding Endil, the innermost layer is protected from the more violent winds, but the outer two rings receive the worst of it.
Natural Resources
Endil is built around the largest iron deposit in Caladrius. This well has sprouted the city's economic growth and has provided the iron to build the city. They are the #1 Exporters of iron and many people from around the world travel to be apart of their trade routes.
