Small Council

The Small Council is a group of highly influential citizens of Barrensburg, appointed by the Duke, and overseen by the Lord Mayor. Their positions, often filled for years at a time, are technically a yearly duty, but can only be removed by the Duke himself. The positions at the council are:
Master of Coin: This is the treasurer and tax collector for the Duchy.
Lord High Marshal: This is the commander of the military and militia in the city and the Duchy. Oversees the jails. 
Supreme Arbitor: This is the head judge for the Duchy, and is responsible for law schools, judges, lawyers and arbitration between Guilds and companies.
Spymaster: Just a funny title. Nothing to see hear. 
High Admiral: Responsible for the docks, shipping lanes, ship building, and crewing vessels. 
Grand Magus: Responsible for the predictions of the Flux tides and preparedness, oversees the arcane schools and arts. 
Lord High Fire Marshal:  Responsible for safety and security of citizens from fire, natural disasters, unnatural disasters, rescue and aid. 
Grand Ambassador:  Responsible for housing of Planar guests and inmates. Works to send refugees back to their plane, or denotes creatures as marked for eradication. 
High Gardener: Responsible for farms outside of the city, import and export of food stores, and runs local poor houses and soup kitchens. 
Grand Architect:  Responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure in the city, rebuilding the ruined Rift District, maintaining sewage systems and water lines.
