Pact of Stone

The Lost is one of the greatest mysteries within the secret powers of Cairne. What the entity or entities that reside deep below the Pouman Vide Mine, buried so deep below the Void filled tunnels and caverns of Underhome that the way there is lost to time, actually is remains unknown. Some believe it is an ancient primordial creature while others suspect it is the spirit of the wounded planet itself, seeking retribution for what was done to it. No matter the true nature of it, it persists and calls to those it deems worthy to receive its gifts. Those that do find favor there are imbued with the ability to weave both fire and stone, sculpting and creating from both to wreak blazing vengeance upon the enemies of the Artist and the power that moves through them. While the Lost never communicates directly with the Artist, they can always feel its call, its drive, and its anger. 
The pact with the Lost is simple by comparison to most, as it desires only that the Artist return to the bosom of the Mines where it is said to reside, deep in the lower sections of the Poumon Vide Mines where no living creatures have existed since before the Blight fell. The Artist is expected at the end of their tenure to make the pilgrim's journey into the deep and dark depths that exist there, though none have ever returned nor been seen again. No one is sure what happens there, or if any of them actually make it, but the compulsion is known from the moment they accept the pact, and until they make the journey, it remains at the edge of their mind, slowly growing in urgency the more powerful they become.

Qualifications

Rage and revenge are the honey that this power seeks. Artists that are moved by anger and impassioned by the fury of creation are most likely to be sought by the Lost. The offer is more of a sensation than any verbal compact, but the efffects are the same. The Artist is poignantly aware of not only what they gain, but what is expected at the time the offer is made, and there is no sense of trickery about it. It is a rare thing that an Artist is offered this boon, but for those that are, tremendous and fearful power is granted, and they are expected to use it to lash out against their enemies with it.
