No doubt the numerous pulp novellas that have become popular in recent years have assisted in making the lull of adventure such a powerful siren's song, but the truth that presents itself to the novice Adventurer once they find them faced with what is actually out there in the Outlands of Cairne, tends to separate the professional from the novice very quickly...and often permanently. The true adventurer must be prepared for anything, and able to survive in the worst of conditions.
