The Void's presence on Cairne has in some way touched every aspect and part of life in some way or another, and the mutative qualities of it causes many variances in the lives it touches. From time to time, a aberrant quality emerges in an individual that grants them power or other qualities that set them aside from their fellows. The aberrant adept is one such occurrence, though due to the legality of magic in Cairne, many view it as a curse. The ability to manipulate magic forces without training or a focus of any kind is terrible and dangerous, often resulting in a horrific realization as these abilities come into being at great cost.
