Malton's Prospect
Malton's Prospect, or The Prospect, is a historically significant public house in the city of Valken. It was famously the gathering place for the leadership of the United Labour Front in the days leading up to the The Ardunan Revolution. The pub was declared a historical heritage site by the Ardunan Ministry of Culture in 1284.
History
Partisan Activity
During the years preceding the revolution, the Ardunan capital was home to frequent clashes and demonstrations by radical paramilitary organizations. These groups would often gather around local pubs and taverns and intimidate members of different factions. By 1242, most large pubs in Valken had been "claimed" by political organizations. Being located in the labour-friendly district of West End, The Prospect was the favoured meeting place for Jack Lennon and other high ranking members of the ULF.Torching
In 1242, following General Crowley's march on Valken, nationalist partisans from the Galtica League started a fire inside the pub, severely damaging the interior of the building and killing 8 patrons. Local police ignored the arson, but the fire department was called when the flames began to spread to nearby buildings. Though the outer structure of the pub was only lightly damaged, the interior was almost completely destroyed. Renovation efforts would be forbidden until 1245, when Valken would be taken by syndicalist forces in the last major battle of the Ardunan Civil War. The Prospect would finally re-open in 1249.
