The Final Nights (December 21st in game), August 3rd.

General Summary

Arriving at Halych, sailing from Stoirmhaefen in the recently rented single masted ship, the group saw the capital of Kislav's port. Halych's walls were split stone on the bottom half, and wood palisade the top half. Many ships littered the docks, overcrowding the city. As they approached, a small oared vessel with 2 guards approached, "Halt, what business have ye, here in Halych?" they called. Anastasia having paid for the ship responded they were to talk to Hrovvar, saying that they had saved his life and needed to speak, the guards let them pass from there, telling Anastasia that they could most likely find Hrovvar in the castle of Duke Oslav Liskna up in the north.   Having docked, the group set about the town in the afternoon. The group followed Lucky as she tried to find someone to ask about the gathering of ships, and presumably people, she originally tried dock workers, yet they did not speak any languages the group knew, as they spoke Zachodniak only. She did however find a tailor of rich refinement in the north of Halych who spoke Anglish, after purchasing some local fine clothes, the group asked the tailor if they knew anything about the large masse of ships. The tailor responded that the amount of traffic seemed normal.   After that Anastasia looked to find someone who spoke Anglish, by calling out in multiple different languages that she spoke, Eruldar, Imperial, Khazalid, Anglish, eventually a guard came over, and spoke in Anglish, asking what she needed. The guard was able to direct them to gate house that segregated the rich and the poor, the north and south of Halych. Strolling through Halych, mid-december, the group saw many wood, stone, and thatch-roofed buildings, snow piling up everywhere. Reaching the gatehouse, the group was confronted by guards yet again, they convinced the guards to send check to Hrovvar that they should be allowed in the noble section, after 15 minutes, one of the guardsmen came back, and they were allowed in.   Traveling through the noble section, they saw that most buildings where made of stone or stonelike materials. They strode up to a secondary wall surrounding Oslav's actual castle, here they had to wait 15 more minutes, as the guards verified their story once more. Their storied was verified, and they strode through the outer wall gatehouse, to see a manorial building, with guards at the front door, who opened the door for them. Greenery and hedges were seen around the manor, a building similar to the manors of the Reach.   The inside of the building opened into a foyer of an impress-ment room, with a chandelier hanging down from the vaulted ceiling, a dual-curved stair-case reached up to a balcony where a noble might stand imposing above their guests, 2 doors were behind each stair-case, and 1 door was open on each the left and right walls. Lucky called over a servant they saw, to sent word to Hrovvar they had arrived and wanted to speak. In the mean time, Anastasia and Lucky each tried to listen in on what the servants were doing, as they appeared to be quite busy about.   Lucky learned that they were preparing for a party, to celebrate Duke Oslav's away to someone, additionally that the servants where glad that he was leaving, she however was interrupted by a guard who spotted her. Anastasia meanwhile, learned that the servants were preparing a Ball to celebrate the birth of a new child, and Duke Oslav leaving to visit them, implying some relation. Both learned that people from all across Asturica were coming to visit, from dukes to barons, from Celosia, to Poviss and Kovir, to Sigraenn.   Eventually the servant returned bearing message that Hrovvar was indisposed would speak with them during the ball tomorrow night. Not wanting to wait, Lucky drafted a letter telling him who they were, that they had saved him, and needed to talk before then, she also drew Anastasia to reaffirm who they were. The servant took the letter, and returned half an hour later. Bearing a letter of their own. Which spoke to how Hrovvar knew who they were, and would meet them out in the hedge maze at midnight, and that he requested that she never drew "such an abomination again". The servant then took them to a room, telling them they were apologetic if the room was too small for them, the room turned out to have 8 beds, and 2 tables, and a hearth...   The group took a nap, having traveled far, until midnight.   The met Hrovvar in the cold night of December, they found him looking at a fountain in the hedge maze, the fountain reflected the lunar light, illuminating the area to some visibility. The group, mostly Anastasia spoke, though other did a little too. The group asked Hrovvar about the symbol they bore, the sign of the Watcher, to which he acknowledged it was theirs', they got him to translate Darren's note, which said, "Follower, the time of the death belong to Jarilo Ziemniak comes, originating at their table. We wish their death public. We wish our society of the Watcher Without Disticintion Callable revealed. Signed Priest Hrovvar song of Anthar, servant of Nira the Watcher.". This confirmed that the cult the party had dealt with was responsible for the assassination of Jarilo, as well as the assassination of lord Chernobog, since the symbol of the Watcher was seemed in the floor of Chernobod and Jarilo assassination spots. Darren now spoke to Hrovvar about how he was approached by a Varl when in the Pillar of the North, to take an assassination hit on pain of death, Hrovvar informed him that it was probably the infriltrators of theirs that approached him, because they believed that the only reason the assassination of Jarilo could have failed was if Darren had tipped off Jarilo when deliveirng his original note. Eventually, Lucky gave a drawing to Hrovvar, and asked him if he could recognize the face of the man she had drawn, it being Willem, her father.   Hrovvar immediately handed it back, recoiling at it, saying that he had requested specifically that she stopped drawing abominations and giving them to him. Relooking at the drawing, Lucky found that she had drawn her father, eyes rolled back, hands clutching his head, looking up, screaming in pain, with his head split open in twain down the middle, into two different sides. She convinced Hrovvar to at least see if he could recognize the man, to which Hrovvar searched and searched, but couldn't remember much of the man. After that Lucky asked Hrovvar if there might have been an Archives detailing the lists of member in the cult, however he told them that while he did indeed have an archives is contained no list of members, as that was oratory. Eventually Hrovvar commented on how he was glad they had acquired one of his servants to guard them, gesturing to Meee, the Orc who wore the armour of the corrupted Magister they fought in Whitsun Adau's prison. The conversation wrapped up, with Hrovvar telling them he fully expected them to try to assassinate him. Meee was the last to leave, being a slow walker, and while he fell behind, he felt his hairs stand on end, and a cold chill up his spine. He turned to look at Hrovvar, watching him, his hand held like he was examining it, yet his head watched Meee. When Hrovvar closed his fist, Meee's symbol began to burn with whitehot instensity, and his hand closed of its own accord. Hrovvar watched him, and then lowered his, and Meee regained his hand's control, and promptly left.   Back at the room in the Manor, the group found that the servants had left some wine and food for them on the tables, them having missed dinner. Anastasia mentally wracked from the revelations of Hrovvar's meeting, drank wine to ease the feeling, Lucky, harbouring habits of being an Urchin dug into the food quickly. Marceline was the only one to consider it might be poisoned, and checked it quickly, to avail that it was not poisoned. The group then debated about what they should do. Lucky and Anastasia talked about the conversation with Hrovvar, about how he was most definitely evil, and they needed to stop his plans, Anastasia believed Hrovvar was the top cultists, and they should just kill him now, while Lucky thought that they needed to find the Archives to learn how to take down the cult in its entirety. While this happened Marceline set up a magical ward against void demons, calling upon her gods. Eventually Lucky started looking for any secret passages, and found one in the corner where the wall met the hearth.   Opening it up, the group decided it would for the best to send a conjured Gerbil of Anastasia's for her to see through to investigate. So Anastasia sent her conjured Gerbil using her rune, down the cramped for a human sized tunnel. Down the passages, it seemed like the tunnels went about the entire manor. Eventually she did find another hidden entrance, from inside the tunnel, and felt a magical presence on the door, she then felt a growing magical feeling in the Gerbil, and thus herself, and she lost connection to the Gerbil. Anastasia and Lucky then mapped out where that entrance might have been based on the layout and paths of the passages and manor halls. Lucky then left with Anastasia through the main halls, to discover that 2 full plate armoured guards had been stationed at the two doors of the room. They followed them along their journey. Lucky tried to deceive the guards to leave them by speaking to them, and then charading when the guards did not speak back, about finding the restrooms. Anastasia left back to the room, and 1 of the guards escorted her back, that guard then came back to Lucky. With 2 guards on her, she found the restrooms, went in, but failed to find any secret entrances, in fact...she made a ruckus about it, and the two guards barged in, and refused to leave. She then decided to return to their room.   Back at the room, Anastasia summoned a giant rat this time, while Marceline shapeshifted into a rat with very tough hide. The two of them went into the tunnel to see what happened at the door. At the door Marceline transformed herself into the same rat, but with wings this time, and flew up to where they thought the latch for the door was, found it, Anastasia saw from her giant rat that Marceline's rat form not only had wings but also horns. But they discovered they couldn't unlatch with their forms. And so, Anastasia returned her senses to her own body, and Marceline began flying back to the room. Lucky spoke with Anastasia about what they had discovered, and that they talked a little until Marceline returned in her flying horned rat form.   Returned, they all saw Marceline's rat form had grown wings and horns. She unshapeshifted, and she was returned to her normal human form.   They then discovered the tunnel was changed. Roots and peaty dirt now inhabited the tunnel, rather than worked stone. The tunnel was slightly different in shape too, more round, more earth-like. They traveled down the tunnel until they found the door to the archives, to find it had been changed to have roots forming a porthole around it, which had green crystals that emanated green light were intertwined in the roots. Anastasia figured out that her rune was most likely connected to gems, and began pressing the rune against one of the crystals, there was a resistance however, like that of pushing the same polarity sides of 2 magnets close together, touching the gem to the rune however, the stone wall behind the root porthole clicked open. Anastasia carefully began to peek into the revealed room, however Lucky just went straight in.   This revealed indeed the archives of Hrovvar. With bookshelves aplenty and tomes lining them. At the other end of the wall stood a desk with a chair, papers and books sprawled across it. On the wall above the desk, a map of Asturica was hung up, pins were pushed into the map, at named cities and towns, after examining the map, it was revealed that the pins made the symbol of the Watcher, with Stoirmhaefen being the center dot of the symbol, and Halych being at the end of one of question mark-like segment on the top, which traveled up from Stoirmhaefen, up to Dun Scone, around through Zima Krol-Kon, going through Kronkow, across Sigraenn, Aukstland, and then into Zachodnia Gora with Halych. The lower right segment followed the penninusla on which Balishvok, Sel'Velsa and Celos laid, while the final one curved around through the Reach down to Shaadauklieffe.   Anastasia drew the symbol on her own map of Asturica, and then went to look for a book on the history of the cult and the Watcher Without Distinction Callable. Marceline however, had spotted the Gerbil Anastasia summoned earlier, as it sat on the roots of the porthole. It bore 2 horns on its head, as it looked at her. She felt like it was hostile and so cast telekinesis upon it. She succeeded into lifting it up, however got the distinct feeling she had disturbed something else at the same time, as a deep rumbling began to happen deep in the earth below, slowly building to an earthquake. The group fled back into the tunnel. They returned to the room, to find Meee still sitting guard.   Wodering what to do, and discussing their options, Marceline decided to phase into the veil to see if she could find a way to find the archives without going their the tunnel. She discovered that the manor had a different form in the veil. It was an ancient temple, with mist permeating the rooms. She saw that on Meee's arm that had the mark of the Watcher, the mark was repeated like the sleeve of a tattoo up that arm, and his face, glowing brightly. She then opened the stone doors that mirrored the doors of the manor room's, to see the guards had the same tattoos, but unfortunately, the guards saw her in the veil, and turned to see her. Marceline quickly retreated back to the room, and let go of her spell, quickly telling the group about the tattoos and guards. The group fled into the tunnel, after convincing Meee to stand guard against anyone who would go through the tunnel. Of course, they only got in the tunnel after they made sure to clarify with Meee that they did not mean for him to stop themselves from going in, and that they meant to guard it after they had gone in. Just as they managed to get in, they saw as the guards burst through the doors, all 4 of them, and surrounded Meee who sat in his chair, as they closed the passage.   They found the archives yet again, but this time, the porthole led down to a tunnel that continued to the depths, Anastasia felt a pull to go down it. Marceline tried to return to the room, but as she got back to their secret passage, she found the 4 guards staring at Meee, and Meee asking them strange question, and continuing like he heard their voices. As she tried to sneak away, the passage collapsed behind her. The guards then took her and Meee and traveled through the building.   As the group went into the tunnels, they delved deeper and deeper, and eventually saw that the tunnel opened up to a cavern that had a green crystal obelisk with 13 grey robed ratpeople craving runes into with their staves. As Anastasia and the group approached, the ratmen turned around, and Anastasia spoke with the rats about what they were doing brandishing her rune. The rats in general since told her that they were completing a ritual to bring back the Horned Rat, and so they needed Anastasia rune, it was discovered that this Horned Rat was "one of 3", Anastasia figured out that Caerdwyn was one of the other 2, which the Grey Seers acknowledged. Anastasia tried throw the rune at the ground to destroy it, but it did not shatter, it did land at the foot of the forefront Grey Seer rat priest however, who scooped it up. Anastasia then tried to take her sword and attack the Priest. She got the drop on him, as he was turning to put the rune into the Obelisk, however she missed her attack, and one of the other Grey Seer ratmen cast a spell on the stone beneath her, quickly turning it to mud, and the back to solid stone when Anastasia had sunk into it. Anastasia then called for her friends to get back to the Manor and inform Hrovvar of the rats, and they left.   The fleeing group passed the tunnel and went to find an exit back into the Manor to circumvent the guards. They did so, and stepped back into the Manor. They found a sleeping servant, and questioned him about where to find Hrovvar, he was very reluctant, and refused to provide anything. However, he slipped up, and mentioned that Hrovvar was "up there", Andre delved into the man's mind with magic, and traversed his memories to find that the servant only ever went as far as one hallway's beginning, and left his stuff there for another servant to pick up and bring to Hrovvar. He also witnessed a scene where Hrovvar had executed a servant for telling someone where to find him in the manor, and had forced all the other servants to watch. Following the servant's memories, the group found the hallway. With all of this travel, it was beginning to dawn on Anastasia that something about this manor was strange, something about its shape and size.   At the hallway they found 8 doors on each side, unsure of what door to go through, Andre cast Clairvoyance focused on Meee. Andre's magic was a bit too powerful and ended up with Meee and Andre becoming bodyswapped. Meee was quite obvious about it, and the group quickly realized what had happened. Meee described that he had been in the bedroom of Hrovvar and they had stepped through a portal. The group then picked the locks of the doors, one at a time, and checked the rooms, until they found that room. When they did find it, they found that the room held only Hrovvar, his bedroom things, and two marble pillars that stood conspicuously in the middle of the room. They questioned Hrovvar where their friends had gone. He told them that he had opened a portal using the marble pillars, and they were taking Marceline to fix the issue she had caused, referencing the rumbling earthquake. Hrovvar offered to, and succeeded in, dispelling Andre's spell which had cause Meee and Andre to swap bodies.   Marceline and Meee where at this time traveling through the Veil, on an endless plane of white mist, traveling a brilliantly shining beacon obelisk, which had 14 dark shapes surrounding it. In the Material realm, Anastasia watched as wet mist began to fill the room, and so she took out a torch, lit it, and chucked it at the Grey Seer with the rune. Meee and Marceline saw in their mist realm one of the shadow figures chuck something at one of the others, which momentarily staggered it, just like what happened to the Grey Seer. Meee went up to the one that chucked the object, and touched it on its nose. Anastasia watched as a ghostly mist figure rose in front of her and reached out a hand, which touched her nose, sucking the life out of her, quite substantially. Additionally she saw that 4 figures of mist had reached out to touch the Grey Seer rats.   Meee then walked over in the mist realm to the glowing beacon Obelisk, and touched it. He felt a surge of warm energy is his left side of his body, and a cold surge of energy of his left side of his body where the mark of the Watcher was. He felt he had a choice to make, the Obelisk was offering him power, and freedom over the mark that controlled him. He accepted.   With that, Anastasia watched as 2 of the mist figures took shape as Marceline and Meee, while the Grey Seer began to shrivel as the Obelisk flared with a green light, and then stood dun. The floor had turned to mud, freeing Anastasia's legs. Meee in the meanwhile, began to have horrific growthspurts. His skeletal structure began changing, like that of a werewolf, his legs became digitigrade, and his feet began to lengthen like a rats, his shoulders began increase in size, his whole body grew half a foot before Marceline could get to him and cast a warding spell on him, as Anastasia had explained that the Grey Seers were summoning their god. Marceline's spell managed to stop Meee from continuing whatever growth he was achieving. However, when Anastasia grabbed the rune from the dead Grey Seer, Meee went over to her, and requested that she give it to him. Anastasia not wanting to give it to him, believing he was possessed by the Horned Rat, refused, and took her gun she got from the invaders from the ironclad ships, and shot it pointblank into Meee's chest, to very little effect. She saw the bullet was stopped in his chest, barely making him bleed, but jammed in it. A scuffle then began, with Anastasia being punched a few time, being knocked out multiple times, while Marceline tried to heal her. Eventually there was a chase out of the cavern back to the tunnels, but Meee was too fast for Anastasia, and after a quick fist, Meee knocked Anastasia out again, and took the Rune, Marceline tried to stop him, but he convinced her he wished no ill will with the rune. Marceline healed Anastasia again, awaking her, the 3 of them agreed to stop fighting, and set back out to find Hrovvar and the group.   At the this time, the group rejoined each other at their room, and then went to find Hrovvar again. Just as he was getting back into bed, the group opened his door again, much to Hrovvar's grudging. They told him of the skaven, Anastasia asking him about exercisms and what effect they had on the subject, he wasn't too sure with the fact that Meee had a deity possessing him, what effect it would have, but said that he believed that Marceline's ward may have held off the effects of the possession long enough for the cult of finish its own ritual which might fix the problem. It was here that Hrovvar finally revealed the cult's plan. They had been working for 30 years to set up the cult, gain the knowledge, and gain the magic, to be able to bring the gods back to the world. Long ago, with the Burning Omen of Sillir, the gods all left. Since then, roughly 1410 years have passed. Hrovvar explained how he believed that the mortal races of Asturica had let their greed and lust become their masters, rather than the idealism they had with the gods walking amongst them. Hrovvar said that the many wars and near genocides, with the insane lineage of Vetyris, who tamed dragons long ago, and the 300 year Ruining event, that we mortals needed the gods to return. They had discovered a way to bring the gods back, and that was the ritual they were working towards. Naturally the group questioned Hrovvar about the multiple regicides the cult committed, which were quickly explained by the fact that those royals either were working to stop them or were being the very destructive force he wished to stop, the Ziemniaks hated the Rovostovs, and the Rovostovs lorded over Oslav Liskna, the 2nd in command of the cult, so the Ziemniaks needed taking care of. Lord Chernobog left a path of wanton destruction and devastation in his path, in the name of his god the Unchained One, which at this point Anastasia had found out was the antithesis of the Watcher Without Distinction Callable, so his reign had to be ended.   Soon enough, Anastasia got Hrovvar to open the portal to his archives for her, and help her use it for a bit. She ended up studying as much as she could about the Unchained One, and the Watcher. What she found mimiced Hrovvar, as well a book she had found in Stoirmhaefen, that focused on the Unchained God. It truly did seem like the Unchained One was an aggressive god that brought destruction, and was the enemy of the Watcher. This explained why Hrovvar had been chased by 4 varl sized men, that came from the East via ship but had no horns, who claimed they followed the Unchained One.   Eventually, the group fell to asleep in their room. In the morning their was a lavish ball held in celebration of bringing the gods back, which Lucky and Anastasia had misunderstood when they had listened in on the servants when they first arrived, and in celebration that Duke Oslav Liskna would be setting sail to join the leader of the cult in the final ritual to cement it all. Nothing bad happened, there was music, drinks, feasting, dancing, and general elation and celebration.   That night, the group had Hrovvar convince Oslav to take the group with him on his way, to which accepted.   There exists a leaf of a book, where the following message was transcribed about this moment, some say written by Lucky, others say a gift from the Watcher to the world themself. It states:
The Storm roiled above, lightning shattering the sky, one can almost imagine seeing Perun himself riding his steed through the sky, his axe swathing the sky in bolts of energy. The party ascends the cliffside. Ascending to the top, the world began to distort. The stony grays and earthy browns, began leaking nebulous colours. Meee was wracked with pain, having a sudden revelation that they were at the cliff called The Cliffs of the Unknown Savior, where their...his...master, was stopped hundreds of years ago. Arriving at the full top, the wind whirled, and bit. At the top, the first thing they found, was a cave entrance. The cave lead to a room, with an eerie mist rising off an ominous, reflecting pool-esque palantir, which had a large, table-sized diameter, yet low curvature. The pool cascaded shimmering light across the cave. The pool showed a scene parallel to their own, but of a mirror realm. Just as they had climbed the Cliffs of the Unknown Savior, they watched as in the pool, a group of 7 ascended a similar cliffside, but atop this one, sat a great, dark cathedral.   The figures were of a man with a bow, long of hair, beside an ancient leopard-like beast with several snaking appendages, two were dwarves, one which glowed with ghostly light and hefted a large tree branch, the other donned in a cloak of a Voidwoken Deep-Dweller, wielding a sword that glowed with radiant light, the fifth a great horned figure, who bore golden-shining rings upon his two horns, sixthly near the head, climbed a woman whose left eye blazed with a maddening light. As the group neared the peak of their cliff, the view shifted to looking out from the main hall of the cathedral, as the group achieved their ascent, they approach, behind them followed a haggard man, who's armour, hair, and eyes, burned with blue fire, steadying the calliope of unnatural lights that shimmered in the area. The reflection then ended, as ripples began to form, faster and faster. Proceeding through the hall of the cave, the group emerged into the storm once more, exiting the cave. A hexagonical stonework cliff (Giant's Causeway), was ahead, with a great arch built overhead. 2 figures stood, one hulking, like the "magisters" from the jail, another of short stature, around 5ft 2ish. A terrible echoing yell permeates the cliff, from beyond the figures They watched as their vision around them distorted with a maddening flare of light, and suddenly they saw a rippling, silvery, barely visible thread, akin to a tapestry hang in front of them. Beyond it they saw the inside of a towering cathedral, a massive stained glass window, semi-circular room replicated the cliff's curvature. First and foremostly within this cathedral room, towered a great and large, monstrous, feathered, shadow-emanating avian figure, whose wings were folded across itself protecting someone.   Their vision changed to that of the first of the group within the Veil, as they charged forth, the group heared a cello begin playing, a haunting dirge, alongside, the glass window began to fracture, shattering, and cracking, but not fully collapsing yet. The avian monstrosity unfurled it wings, cawing upwards, with a maddening chorus of the damned, as the figure who's vision they inhabit got closer, revealing a black clad, man, with elven ears, and long raven hair, standing playing his ivory cello.   The elf called out, his voice ringing out, even to within their own realm. As he spoke out, they all recognized this man, some from him being on the ship known as the Fervent, others from the history books of the Ruining, others yet still, from traveling with him. He is Mandos the Consorter of Veil, bringer of Doom, yet as he spoke, he called out that "Nehyr of the Ynyswr has come, and along side him his ever-readying companion Ragakhaz, he who brings the death of humanity, finally outgrown his pudge!" The rippling tapestry faded away as the vision closed on upon Mandos, or Nehyr, and the great Voidwoken Crow. Ahead they see a half-reality, blending with the one they just watched, the group saw a veilish version of the cathedral, with spirits of the 7 rushing forth, battling with the Consorter of the Veil, and the Great Voidwoken Crow. Advancing upon the figures in their own world, as they listened to the haunting dirge play around them, ever so slightly picking up pace at a regular speed, the hulking figure interposed themself between the group and the smaller figure. The man, was large, his right arm a bundle of dark tentacles forming an appendage, his face was haggard and half undead, he called out while splaying his tentacle arm "The time has come, and so doth the throngs gather to watch my Acolyte, chosen of Cnut son of Alvar, brings down the Barrier of Hork! Watch as we finally welcome the Unspeakable one's power! But haste not...let my acolyte explain come listen to her!" The small figure was revealed as Cnut Alvarsson stood aside. The figure turned, pulling down their wide hood to reveal two demonic horns out of their head, some twisted incarnation of outer beings and a human.   She spoke directly to the group, "I am glad you've come to make our destinies so glorious. Poor dear Kork, if you would please approach my far-gone friend over here?" as she turned and revealed a man kneeling, holding his head in his hands, yelling up at the sky, the source of the endless unfathomably sorrowful yell. Meee, responding to the name Kork, walked over, "Good, now know all, that this man, stopped I, Nira the Gazer into the Abyss, Watcher of the lands of Old Ones, when all was right, years ago. Slit his throat.", as Kork died so, the man died, Nira spoke again saying, "His name was Garrett." At this moment when Garrett's blood touched the stones, the roar of wind, and the dirge picked up, Nira began to kneel and begin casting a ritual, surrounding herself in a white crystalline spherical barrier. The storm whipped up like that of hurricane around the cliffside, the rain cut into the group's skin.   Darren, Andre, and Marceline refused to let whatever this creature called Nira and her cult's plan was continue, and so they launched their attack, however, with Anastasia and Kork, known previously as Meee, defending Nira along side Cnut, the fight was very difficult for the 3 the humans to fight Kork, Anastasia, and Cnut. Lucky at this time retreated to the ship, she took her tome, and drew a being she had never seen before, just like her drawings she made of void demons she had fought, and summoned out of her tome a new beast of the void, a sea creature that could swim her across the Storm Sea back to Whitsun Adau.   In the end Kork sensed his time to spring his final betrayal had arrived, as the crescendo of the dirge had picked up, he went over to Nira, who knelt still, chanting, her voice booming like the sound of thunder itself in an archaic tongue. He took his rune, and slammed into the crystalline barrier around Nira, shattering it. He then shove Nira aside and began to finish the ritual himself, a green crystalline barrier forming around him. Nira, Cnut, and Anastasia looked on, Cnut and Anastasia yelling what they should do, Nira responding that Kork is destined to finish it himself. With final words of power spoken by Kork, the world went momentarily white, and lightning struck Kork.   When all had regained their sight, the storm clouds still remained, except for a single gap directly above the cliff, the eye of the hurricane, the rain was silent, the wind had died, and far away into the seas beyond, endless fragments of golden shards began falling like javelin raindrops into the sea silently. The stars up above were clearer than ever, shining with a disturbing light, one not of malice or benevolence, but of unknown power. Out into the stars, all could see the sky as the planets aligned, now being easily seen due to the omenous time, and far away, the final planet, exploded in miasmic colour, just like the colours that sprayed the skies during the Burning Omen of Sillir.   The Barrier of Hork was destroyed, the gods were freed from their prison, and Archais was once more vulnerable to interplanar beings, all of Lothrik Hork's work brought low.   It was a few months of studying later that Anastasia came up with the theory that for so long none had known of. Long ago, there were many more planets in the system, on one planet on the farthest reaches of the system, there the namesake of the heretical Dwarves known as the Ravenshields, Aldar Ravenshield, had consorted with powerful magic, and ended up pulling many of our system's planets to clash into his own, doing trapped the spiritual beings of our system to that planet. Some of the Dwarves that he knew fled to Archais, but so too did the followers of a deity that took advantage of all the gods being forced into one location, a deity that was a god of war, wrath, destruction, devastation, and the doom of dragons, the Unchained One. The Unchained One's followers established themselves on a continent East of Asturica, but with the Ritual of Kork drawing close, they and the children of Hork, Gork, and Mork, all felt a call to Stoirmhaefen.
