Description

The Vulcanis Wardens are colossal guardian constructs forged in the depths of the Stonecarvers’ Forge. Each warden is a walking fortress, imbued with runic memory banks and bound by ancient oaths etched into their frames. Their steps quake the halls, and their eyes glow like coals — unblinking, unyielding.

Function and Purpose

  • Originally created to defend the Forge from Primordial incursions and infernal siegecraft
  • Serve as mobile protectors of leyline nodes and sacred dwarven halls
  • Can enter dormant stasis for centuries, then reawaken when ancient conditions are fulfilled
  • Each warden is tied to a specific clan, often guarded by Rune Sentinels

Abilities and Systems

Forgeheart Blast – Fires a cone of molten energy capable of slagging magical defenses
Runic Pulse Field – Disrupts enemy spellcasting within a 60 ft radius
Anvil Slam – Area-of-effect stomp with seismic rune impact
Self-Repair Protocol – Slowly regenerates when standing on forge-aligned stone or near magma vents
Memory Sigil Response – Activates in the presence of betrayal, corruption, or oathbreaking magic

Intelligence and Spirit Core

Though not sentient in the traditional sense, each Vulcanis Warden contains a memory-forged echo — the spiritual imprint of a revered dwarven ancestor, typically a fallen hero or Forge-Priest. These echoes can sometimes respond in visions to dwarves of their bloodline or in moments of extreme spiritual need.

Known Wardens

Ironshod the Vigilant
Guards the lower chambers of the Stonecarvers’ Forge
Ashmarch the Hollow-Eyed
Went missing during the Sorrow War — rumored to wander the Rodiac deeps
Bronzenbane
Activated in the Siege of the Veinshaft and reportedly crushed a dragon with its bare hands

Legends and Dangers

If multiple Vulcanis Wardens are activated simultaneously, their combined presence may warp local leyline behavior. A corrupted or stolen Warden core could be used to construct a false titan, bound to darkness
