Decay and Transformation   Vorrath is a massive, amorphous entity constantly shifting and flowing, composed of thick, dark sludge interwoven with streaks of glistening green and gold. Its form is vaguely humanoid but constantly undulating, as though it could dissolve and reform at will. Pustules of glowing liquid bubble on its surface, releasing tendrils of steam and vapor that poison the air.   Vorrath’s voice is a deep, gurgling resonance, layered with an unsettling echo, as if multiple voices speak in unison. Its movements leave behind trails of viscous ooze, which sprout mushrooms, moss, and other forms of rapidly growing, but unsettlingly twisted, life.

Domain and Influence

Vorrath’s domain, the Primordial Mire, is a vast expanse of bubbling swamps, bottomless bogs, and shifting marshes. Rivers of black sludge cut through the landscape, while strange and mutated flora grow unchecked. The air is thick with mist, obscuring the land and making navigation treacherous.   On the Material Plane, Vorrath’s influence manifests as the creation of vast swamps and wetlands. Rapid decay and regeneration cycles in ecosystems. Spontaneous transformations of life into corrupted or mutated forms.

Realm - The Primordial Mire

The Primordial Mire is a living, breathing swamp where decay and growth exist in perpetual balance. Gigantic fungal forests and massive slime pools dominate the landscape, while twisted, glowing vegetation emits faint luminescence in the eternal twilight.   At the center of this ever-changing expanse lies the Ebon Cenote, a massive pool of swirling ooze where Vorrath resides. This site is said to be the source of all transformative power in the realm, feeding the endless cycle of decay and renewal.   Vorrath is enigmatic and unsettling, embodying the paradox of decay as a precursor to growth. It neither cherishes nor despises the corruption it creates, seeing it as a necessary stage in the natural cycle. Unpredictable and cryptic, Vorrath operates beyond conventional morality, embracing destruction and transformation in equal measure. Vorrath wants to ensure that decay leads to renewal and that stagnation is avoided at all costs. He wishes to oversee the balance between corruption and rebirth, ensuring the constant evolution of all realms.

Legends and History

Origin

Vorrath emerged from the confluence of earth and water, born of the primordial sludge that formed the foundation of life. Its role as the Primeval Mirekeeper was to mediate the transition from decay to growth, ensuring that nothing was wasted in the cycle of existence.

The Eclipse Epoch

During the Eclipse Epoch, Vorrath served as a vital ally to the Elemental Phalanx, using its ooze-like form to smother Ignaraxis’s flames and neutralize the toxic corruption of Obsidros. However, its methods often caused discomfort among allies, as its powers often left unsettling marks on the battlefield.     Vorrath commands a host of amorphous and parasitic beings that reflect its essence of decay and renewal. Slimeborn Scions, amorphous humanoid beings formed from sentient ooze, serving as both warriors and emissaries. Bog Crawlers, massive, insect-like creatures that leave trails of decay and sprout corrupted vegetation in their wake. Ebon Leeches, swarms of tiny, parasitic entities that drain life energy and transform it into restorative ooze.

Artifacts and Relics

Corruption Chalice

A relic that holds a fragment of Vorrath’s essence. The chalice can create pools of ooze that decay structures and creatures, while also giving rise to new, mutated life.

Mireheart Pendant

An amulet shaped like a swirling drop of ooze. It grants its wearer immunity to poison and disease, as well as the ability to transform decay into nourishment.

Current Status

Vorrath remains active within the Primordial Mire, quietly overseeing the natural cycle of decay and transformation. While its intentions often remain inscrutable, Vorrath is known to intervene when stagnation threatens the balance of life. Mortal druids and shamans sometimes seek its guidance, though they are often unprepared for the price of its gifts.
