Overview

The Verdant Veil is a shimmering, unseen threshold that separates Tarnith from the Feywild. It is not a fixed wall, but a living boundary, pulsing in rhythm with the seasons and celestial alignments. At times, especially during the Midsummer Moon and Winter Solstice, the veil thins—allowing fleeting glimpses across realms and enabling beings, energy, or visions to pass through.   The veil is older than Tarnith’s mortal kingdoms. Some say it was first woven by the Elder Triad; others believe it’s a natural phenomenon, shaped by ancient magic and deep-rooted pacts between mortals and the fey.

Spiritual and Magical Significance

To Tarnith’s druids and seers, the Verdant Veil is sacred—a symbol of the Sacred Cycle and a reminder that life and magic are interwoven. They believe that breaking the balance of the Veil would bring catastrophe, letting uncontrolled fae magic or spiritual decay flood the land.   The Druids of the Veil perform rites at known veil-thinned locations (Fey Glens).   The Archbound monitor the Veil’s fluctuations and interpret omens through its shimmering.   Some Feywild courts revere the Veil as a treaty line—an agreement not to overwhelm the mortal world.

Known Locations of Veil-Thinning

Glade of Seasons – Where all four Fey Courts converge during solstice rites.   Mists of Avalonreach– A hidden glade where time and place unravel.   Wyrmwood Glade – Spiritual heart of Tarnith, tied to rebirth and prophecy.

Legends and Myths

The Pact of the Fey-King was sealed through the Veil, with Queen Lyris stepping into Tarnith beneath a moonlit arch.   It is said the Blade of Whispers resonates most strongly when the Veil grows thin, warning of imbalance.   The Shadowthorn Rebellion sought to tear the Veil apart through dark rituals—a catastrophe averted at great cost.

Dangers

Crossing the Veil is not without peril. Time flows unpredictably in the Feywild, and mortals who linger too long may return changed—or not at all. Fey entities crossing into Tarnith may arrive disoriented or hostile, especially if the Veil was breached forcibly.
