The Spirit Shroud

Spirit Shroud

"The land does not sleep — it remembers. And in the mist, it breathes."

General Information

Type: Supernatural Phenomenon
Region Affected: Tarnith (notably during the Cycle of Reflection)
Frequency: Seasonal; most common during autumnal dusk or spiritual convergence

Overview

The Spirit Shroud is a supernatural mist that descends across Tarnith’s sacred groves, glens, and woodland paths during periods of heightened spiritual activity. It appears most frequently during the Cycle of Reflection, but may manifest unpredictably during solstice nights or near active leyline nodes.   This faint, blue-silver fog moves with unnatural grace, clinging to ancient stones and hollow trees. It is widely believed to thin the veil between the material world and the spirit realm, allowing glimpses of ancestral figures, long-departed druids, or elemental guardians.

Mystical Effects

  • Spectral Sightings: Shadowy figures, animal spirits, and echoes of past rituals can often be seen through the mist.
  • Spirit Conduits: Certain druids and seers report clearer communion with spirits or visions during the shroud’s presence.
  • Memory Echoes: Travelers may relive flashes of their past or experience ancestral memories not their own.
  • Hazards

While mostly revered, the shroud is not without risk:
  • Spiritual Disorientation: Prolonged exposure may cause confusion, identity loss, or spiritual possession in rare cases.
  • Lost Time: Some report emerging from the shroud hours or even days later, with no recollection of events.
  • Type
    Metaphysical, Supernatural
