The Pact of the Veilblood: The Unified Order Against the Abyss

Founding of the Pact 10465AM

After the Apotheosis Convergence, the world of Caemothas remained haunted by the lingering scars of the Voidbane’s assault centuries later. Abyssal Shards, remnants of the Voidbane’s power, continued to corrupt the land, spawning twisted monsters known as Voidspawn and destabilizing the realms. To combat these threats, a coalition of alchemists, warriors, and mystics united to form the Pact of the Veilblood—a secretive organization dedicated to eradicating the Voidbane’s influence and protecting mortal realms from supernatural horrors.   The Pact combined the revolutionary ideas of its three founders:   Elyssara Veyne – The visionary high priestess who sought balance between power and humanity. Her spiritual guidance kept the Pact focused on its moral mission.   Kael Rydoran – A master alchemist who developed the Crimson Rites, a system of controlled mutations to create enhanced warriors capable of standing against the Voidspawn.   The Harbinger – An enigmatic figure who discovered the secrets of eldritch bindings, allowing mortals to wield the power of lesser entities to combat their enemies. These three leaders forged the Pact into a powerful and feared organization, blending their methods to create warriors who could stand against the Abyss.

Philosophy and Purpose

The Pact of the Veilblood believed that supernatural threats could only be defeated through extraordinary means, even if those means required personal sacrifice. They embraced the idea of "power through transformation" and sought to balance mortal will with the raw strength needed to fight cosmic horrors.   The Pact’s mission included
Neutralizing Abyssal Shards
Locating and destroying the remnants of the Voidbane before they could corrupt the land further.
Hunting Supernatural Threats
Combating fiends, aberrations, and Voidspawn that preyed on the mortal realms.
Researching Forbidden Arts
Continuously refining the techniques of mutation and eldritch binding to perfect their warriors.

The Veilblood Warriors

The warriors of the Pact were transformed into living weapons through two distinct methods, reflecting the combined expertise of Kael Rydoran and the Harbinger.
Crimson-Born Hunters
Warriors underwent the Crimson Rite under the watchful eyes of Kael Rydoran, an alchemical and arcane process that mutated their bodies to enhance strength, speed, resilience, and other abilities. While effective, these mutations were unstable and carried the risk of mental and physical degeneration.   Some of the after effects included hardened skin, scaled armor-like patches, elongated limbs, claws, or animalistic senses. Some warriors, called Zagubiony Brat, succumbed to their mutations and became monstrous abominations. These failures had to be hunted and destroyed by their own comrades.
Silverbound Warriors
The Harbinger perfected the Rites of Veiling. There warriors were bonded to fragments of eldritch entities, granting them supernatural abilities and the power to directly confront Voidspawn. This method was more stable but came with the risk of corruption, as prolonged use of eldritch power could lead to monstrous transformation.   These warriors gained glowing silver eyes, spectral auras, and the ability to summon eldritch powers such as shadow manipulation or energy attacks. Warriors who lost control of their eldritch bonds underwent Unveiling, transforming into uncontrollable monsters.

Structure and Unity

The Pact was unified by the guidance of Elyssara Veyne, whose spiritual leadership ensured cooperation between Kael Rydoran and the Harbinger. Elyssara’s teachings emphasized balance, urging the warriors to retain their humanity despite their transformations.   The Pact operated from several strongholds across Caemothas:
The Sanctum of Veilblood
The Pact’s central headquarters, hidden deep beneath an ancient city. This fortress housed their archives and research facilities.
The Crimson Bastion
A sprawling forest outpost where the Crimson Rite was perfected.
The Shadowed Spire
A towering citadel used as a forward base for Abyssal hunts.

Key Events

Founding of the Pact of the Veilblood 10500 AM
The Pact of the Veilblood was formed in response to the lingering corruption of the Voidbane. Under the leadership of Elyssara Veyne, Kael Rydoran, and The Harbinger, the Pact united alchemists and mystics to combat Abyssal Shards and Voidspawn.
The First Abyssal Hunt 10515 AM
The Pact achieved its first major victory in Bruasia, destroying an Abyssal Shard that had corrupted the region. However, the cost was high, with several warriors succumbing to mutation and Unveiling.
The Battle of the Shadowed Peaks 10565 AM
The Pact confronted an army of fiends and Voidspawn in Kiyoage, sealing a rift that threatened to engulf the region. The combined might of Crimson-Born and Silverbound warriors proved instrumental in the battle.
The Veilblood Accord 10656 AM
At the height of its power, the Pact established strongholds across Caemothas, creating a vast network of sanctuaries and research facilities. This era marked the peak of their unity and influence.
The Fall of the Pact 10956 AM
During the Shifting Crown Incident in Tarnith, Elyssara Veyne was killed in a desperate battle against a Void-corrupted Primordial. Her death fractured the Pact, with Kael Rydoran and The Harbinger blaming each other. The resulting schism led to the creation of the Crimson Circle and the Order of the Silver Veil.   The Schism Without Elyssara’s leadership, the Pact fractured:   Kael Rydoran formed the Crimson Circle, rejecting eldritch power and focusing solely on perfecting the Crimson Rite to create self-reliant warriors. The Harbinger founded the Order of the Silver Veil, doubling down on eldritch binding as the only way to combat the Voidbane’s remnants. The split turned former allies into bitter rivals, and the once-mighty Pact became a tragic memory.   Legacy of the Pact Though the Pact of the Veilblood no longer exists, its influence is felt in the two factions it spawned:   The Crimson Circle, with their mutated warriors, represent the unyielding strength and adaptability of mortal will. The Order of the Silver Veil, with their disciplined Silverbound, embody the calculated control of supernatural power.   Both organizations claim to honor the Pact’s legacy, but their enmity ensures that the Pact will likely never be restored.
