The Eternal Arch

“It does not lead forward. It leads inward.” — Raithea, Grove-Seer of Tarnith
The Eternal Arch stands in silent majesty in the heart of Tarnith, a massive stone formation formed of smooth, gray monoliths etched with ancient spirals and faded druidic runes. Alone in a great glade where even birds fall silent, the arch is considered the most sacred site in the continent—a place where the realms of the living and spirit brush close.   Many believe it is a relic of a lost civilization of druids who once walked between worlds. During the solstices, the arch aligns with the rising or setting sun, casting shadows that form ritual patterns on the surrounding stone circle.

Environment- Temperate forest glade; silent, mist-shrouded, with constant ambient magical resonance

Spiritual Significance

The Eternal Arch is the focal point for Tarnith’s seasonal ceremonies. Druids believe it to be a Veil-piercing structure, allowing communion with the land’s guardian spirits and possibly other planes of existence. It serves as a pilgrimage site for druids seeking ascension, visions, or rebirth.   Some rites involve walking beneath the arch in total silence under moonlight. Others leave offerings in the form of stones marked with personal sigils, which are believed to carry messages into the beyond.

Notable Features

The Veilshadow Circle
A ring of small, weather-worn standing stones surrounds the arch. During eclipses, their shadows spiral inward and touch the arch’s base.
The Stoneheart Keystone
The topmost slab of the arch glows faintly during solstices, resonating with the hum of the earth. Touching it is said to awaken past-life memories.
The Grove of Echoes
A silent thicket nearby where sounds do not carry. Some say spirits whisper here to those who’ve walked the Arch alone.

Hazards

Veil Resonance – During peak alignments (eclipses, solstices), latent magical energy may cause memory loss, trance states, or involuntary planar phasing.
Spiritual Scrutiny – Those who approach the arch with impure intent often report being rejected—some are found unconscious, others vanish entirely.
