Siegfried Nox, The Cursed Knight

"Pain is fleeting. Suffering is eternal."

Origins: A Knight of Honor, A Fate of Damnation

Siegfried Nox was once a proud and noble warrior, sworn to the service of a now-forgotten empire. As a knight of the Order of the Adamant Blade, he was revered for his unwavering loyalty, discipline, and battlefield prowess. His blade carved a legacy of victory, and his name was whispered in both admiration and fear across the war-torn lands.   However, Siegfried’s path to damnation began on a battlefield shrouded in legend and tragedy—the Siege of Blackreach. Tasked with leading his knights against a rising tide of abyssal horrors, he was betrayed by his own commanders, abandoned as a sacrifice to dark forces. As his men fell one by one, Siegfried fought to his last breath, until he was the only one left standing amidst the carnage. It was then that he found it—the Cursed Blade, buried deep within the ruins of the battlefield.

The Blade’s Curse: The Price of Power

Legends say the blade was never meant for mortal hands—it was a fragment of a fallen god, a weapon forged from suffering and bound to the will of an ancient, nameless entity. In his desperation, Siegfried seized it, believing it to be his only salvation.   At first, the weapon granted him unimaginable power. He cut down the abyssal horrors with terrifying ease, his strikes tearing through creatures that no mortal steel could wound. His wounds sealed themselves, his stamina became endless, and his enemies fell in droves. But with every strike, the blade drank deeper—not just the blood of his foes, but also his own soul, his memories, his humanity.   When the battle ended, he should have felt victorious, but instead, he felt nothing. He realized the truth: the blade had bound itself to him. It whispered in his mind, demanding more suffering, more souls to feed its endless hunger. His body no longer aged, but he was no longer truly alive either. The knight who had once fought for honor had become something else, something twisted—an instrument of endless torment.

The Wanderer in Shadows

Siegfried wandered the land, searching for a way to break his curse. He sought out mages, priests, alchemists, even ancient gods, but none could sever the bond between him and the blade. Over the years, he became a legend, a specter in the night, a cursed warrior who could not be slain. Kings and warlords sought to control him, but all who tried met their end beneath his blade.   He refused to serve, knowing that any allegiance would lead to more suffering, more souls consumed by the weapon he could not release. That was, until he met M.

The Alliance with M: A False Hope

M did not seek to control Siegfried—instead, he offered him something no one else had: understanding. M claimed that his research into the Primordials could unlock the secret of Siegfried’s curse. That through the draining of raw elemental power, he could rewrite the very laws that bound Siegfried’s soul to the blade.   For the first time in centuries, Siegfried saw a path forward, a chance to reclaim himself. And so, he swore allegiance to M—not out of loyalty, but out of desperation. He became M’s champion and enforcer, the sword that would carve a path to power, cutting down all who stood in the way of M’s vision.   Yet, deep down, he knows the truth: M is using him, just as others have before. But if there is even a chance that M can break the curse, then Siegfried will see this path to its end, no matter the cost.   Siegfried serves as M’s primary enforcer—his unstoppable warlord, leading M’s elite forces in battle. He is the one sent to eliminate those who threaten M’s plans, cutting them down with ruthless efficiency However, his true purpose remains his own. He does not fight for M’s grand vision—he fights for the possibility that M can free him from the nightmare that is his existence.   But if M cannot break his curse… if this was all a lie… then Siegfried will carve a path of destruction unlike anything Caemothas has ever seen.   Because there is one final truth he has come to accept: If he cannot be saved… then nothing else deserves salvation either.
