Appearance

Raedrak is a beast of crackling voltage and cloud-born fury. Shaped like a massive saber-toothed feline with storm-forged musculature, its fur bristles with coursing lightning, forming a living thundercloud around its body. Its mane trails behind like a storm front, dark and roiling with purple energy, arcing with static and divine force. Its eyes glow with blue-white fury, and its claws leave scorched ground in their wake.

Origin & Mythos

The Beast of the Skywars

Raedrak was born when a primordial lightning strike shattered the ancient firmament during the early Eclipse Epoch. It is said that the bolt was not summoned—but willed into existence by Voryn, The Endless Cyclone, as a desperate act to halt the advance of demonic skystorms over the elemental plane of Air. Where the lightning struck, Raedrak stood—fully formed, snarling, and already crackling with fury. Though it is called a beast, Raedrak is an elemental wyrd: a storm given shape, purpose, and relentless instinct. It does not think in mortal terms. It hunts disturbances in balance, striking only when the sky itself is in pain.

A Force of Judgment

While Hrímveirr represents stillness and Ignivar rebirth, Raedrak is elemental judgment. It tears through places where arcane or divine forces have grown unstable, rending magic from the sky. Raedrak has been known to destroy entire floating citadels, skyships, or mana towers in a single bolt-laced leap. Some claim it follows the pulse of leyline storms. Others believe it is guided by the fury of Raindros, The Stormreaver. But none truly control it. Raedrak is not tamed—it is respected.

Living Conduit: Lightning empowers Raedrak. Electrical attacks heal it. Arcane storm magic is consumed to fuel its next charge.

Skyrend Roar: Its roar splits clouds, dispels illusions, and knocks flying creatures from the air within miles.

Judgment Flash: Once per age, it can call a continent-spanning lightning strike, cleansing corrupted skies or incinerating a floating city.

Combat Role: A CR 22+ mythic threat, Raedrak is a mobile, AoE-heavy entity. It specializes in blitz strikes, anti-flight tactics, and raw lightning power. Legendary actions include chained lightning, thunderclap shockwaves, and sky rips that pull enemies into the upper winds.

Worship and Fear

Raedrak is not worshipped so much as appeased. Sky shamans in Mesa Roja and the floating sky-islands of Caemothas leave offerings atop peaks, asking for clear skies and forgiveness. The Spellshot Marshals tell tales of its lightning carving entire mountain passes. Some call it the "Warden of the High Currents"—others, "The Beast that Hunts Gods."

Current Status

Raedrak was last seen during the Shattering of the Veil, when it struck down a corrupted sky colossus conjured by infernal cults. Since then, it has vanished into the storm-belts of the upper atmosphere. Some believe it now dwells in the Cloudreach Aether, a region no mortal airship dares enter.
