Symbols

A shattered chain dripping with dark ichor, symbolizing the inescapable cycle of despair and the pain it inflicts.   A cracked, blackened heart encircled by shadowy tendrils, representing the grip of hopelessness on the soul.   Gurapsis appears as a towering, shadowy figure cloaked in an ever-shifting aura of despair. His form is indistinct and constantly warping, reflecting the intangible yet all-encompassing nature of hopelessness. His eyes glow faintly with a dim, cold light that pierces the soul, evoking feelings of dread and helplessness. His movements are slow and deliberate, as if to emphasize the weight of the suffering he carries. A faint, mournful wail always accompanies his presence, a chorus of the anguished cries of those who have succumbed to despair.   Gurapsis is a deity of insidious malevolence, thriving on the despair and pain of mortals. He is patient and methodical, understanding that true despair takes time to cultivate. While his presence is overwhelming and oppressive, his influence often comes subtly, whispering doubts and amplifying suffering until his victims succumb. He despises hope and joy, viewing them as obstacles to his dominion. Gurapsis finds satisfaction not just in causing pain but in the despair that lingers long after the physical suffering ends.   Gurapsis began as a gentle god of mourning and empathy, offering solace to those touched by tragedy. But as the Primordial War escalated, his compassion turned to grief, and grief into despair. Witnessing endless suffering, he came to believe that pain was the only constant truth. He embraced hopelessness as sacred, and began to spread it like rot. When he offered comfort no longer—only anguish—his divinity twisted into something cold and cruel.

Desires and Motivations

Gurapsis wishes to perpetuate despair and pain, strip mortals of hope, and thrive on the anguish and suffering of the world. Gurapsis desires to see all who oppose him broken in spirit, spread despair until it engulfs the world, and deepen the pain that binds mortals to their anguish.   Gurapsis is said to have been born from the first mortal to feel true, overwhelming despair. Legends speak of him emerging from the shadows cast by hopelessness, feeding on the pain and sorrow of the living. Over time, he grew stronger as despair became a constant companion to mortals, entwined with every act of suffering and loss. He became a god feared by all, his influence spreading through the darkest corners of existence.   Gurapsis resides in The Gantry of Chains, a realm of unending torment and despair. The ground is covered with jagged stones and pools of dark ichor, while chains stretch endlessly into the shadowed sky, binding unseen figures who wail in agony. The air is thick with an oppressive silence broken only by faint cries of anguish. At the center of the realm lies The Throne of Broken Spirits, a massive seat carved from blackened stone and wrapped in chains, where Gurapsis broods and directs his influence over the mortal world.   Gurapsis’s followers are those who seek to spread despair and pain, either as a means of control or out of their own brokenness. The Cult of Eternal Despair operates in secrecy, working behind the scenes to amplify suffering and hopelessness. Members often infiltrate communities, subtly eroding morale and spreading misery through manipulation and cruelty.
