Teior
Teior, or the Teioran Union, is both a continent and an Empire in Western Caelwhyn. The Union is historically a human region, and is considered their ancestral home, but has since become more of a melting pot of various cultures and species. Aside from humans, there are also significant populations of murin, forest gnomes, elves and goblins.
The Union is made up of five provinces, including Rhoan, Arkfast, Colseer, Farsos and Ehlriad. These provinces were at one point in time all separate nations, but during the 3rd Age, the ArchDuke Helbrin III of Colseer set out on a campaign to unite Teior into one powerful entity. Some came peacefully, while others fought back.
Even today, the stability of the Union is uncertain. The Arcane City of Katadae, a metropolis inhabited largely by wizards and other arcane magic users, seeks complete independence from not only Teior, but the Province of Ehlriad itself. Protected by powerful magical shields, the city wages a shadow war of espionage against Union forces, while the rest of Ehlriad remains divided over whether to support the city's bid for independence.
While Teior is, at its centre, an empire, it operates as a federal democracy, with each province maintaining significant autonomy over its internal affairs. Each province elects its own duke through various councils, while the Archduke in Colseer maintains both hereditary position and considerable executive power.
The climate is generally quite temperate, and while the landscape varies, Teior is particularly known for its towering eastern mountains and great lakes that gradually lower into rolling hills and lush vast plains as you head further west. Various islands also dot its coastline.
Teior also has seen significant technological improvement in the last few centuries, and has arguably the strongest economy in Caelwhyn.
