Summer Camp 2026

Well I'm back. It was around this time last year that I ended up taking a break from worldbuilding. To save myself some money, I deleted the Caelwhyn wiki and cancelled my subscription, switching everything to a simple spreadsheet. However, I am just about to DM my first proper D&D campaign in the world of Caelwhyn, so now is the perfect time to bring back the wiki and start writing again!
If any strangers out there have stumbled upon this article as part of Summer Camp and are thinking of looking around... you'll currently find very little on the site, sorry! It's early days of the wiki again, so I have very little actually written up. I am hoping this will change soon though.
Most of the writing I'll be doing over the summer will relate to the Campaign, so I'm hoping that the prompts can help give me a bit of inspiration. Summer is always busy with work for me, so I'll be really happy if I just get 8 articles written. So we're aiming for just the copper badge here.

Week One: Pledge Your Goal

I am a busy bee at the moment, so aiming low and hoping that I smash through that! I will aim to write 8 articles this summer camp. 10 would be lovely.

Rolled Homework: Review and update your homepage and world primer.

This should probably read "create a world primer". I doubt I'll get this finished within this week but it's something I'll aim to get done by the end of the month, or ideally before my first session on the 22nd June.

Week Two: Choose your Area of Focus

Rolled Homework: Make a list of concepts you'd like to explore.

It's hard to make a list as such but I would like to focus on anything that will enrich the campaign that I'm about to run, but specifically things that won't be spoilers for the players if they were to stumble upon the articles!

Week Three: Plan Your Writing Time

There's a reason I didn't even end up attempting Summer Camp last year - this time of year is my busiest season of work. However, I know that if I don't have a creative outlet, my mental health will struggle. So I'll make a goal. Two articles a week - writing two evenings a week. Each Sunday I'll make a specific plan for my upcoming week and select which two days would be easiest for me to set aside for an evening spent writing.

Rolled Homework: Gather music or other media to inspire you.

I love making playlists! I do have a generic Caelwhyn playlist, but perhaps I should make one specifically for this campaign. I find that music is the thing that inspires me most. I am a filmmaker by day, and often a particular song will flood my brain with images, and give me ideas for entire stories or themes. This week I shall take some time to sit in the garden, be still, and listen to some music to see if inspiration strikes.
